My son has an Xbox and plays with friends who are off-site as well as larger groups. He tells me there is often an Islamic in the larger groups who he and others talk to, and the conversations are about recruitment.
They are sort of Islamic missionaries to young men in a pretty open venue. The conversations go private and the Islamics make their pitch.
Any one else run into this?

I would tell him Islamics are liars and to avoid their crap at all costs.
Why just ‘young men’ ? Isn’t that against the law ?
I think the Islamics should be sued for discrimination.
He tells me that they discuss how misunderstood Islam is in the US and how warm and wonderful it really is. They go over the tenets of the faith and have discussions about social issues.
There’ve been Christian and Jewish groups recruiting on Eveonline, but haven’t seen any Muslims. Yet.
Not as many young women gamers.

The main issue here is parents that let their kids play online games. Where is the essential need for that? There is no redeeming value for these activities other than to open yourself up to influences not usually available.

Where is the essential need for you to have internet access or the essential need for you to have more money than your expenses require or more square footage than a single person "needs."

Most games on XBOX have content that can only be accessed through the online multi~player setting. My son loves going online and playing Halo multi~player. He likes to do the team battles.
Most parents probably don’t know there is an online component, after all, it is played on an XBOX.

Western Europe is full of young women who somehow fall for exotic looking muslim men. They marry, convert to islam, have kids and then the guys disappear to whatever islamic country they came from WITH the kids. US consulates in these places have their hands full trying to find the kids.
I had not yet heard that gaming was used to rope young people in but I am not at all surprised.
