During WWII the Queen actually had a job. She worked on British Army trucks.

During the Second World War, Elizabeth insisted that her parents allow her to enter military service. She qualified as a truck driver at the military transport training center, after which she was able to change truck tires and take apart and reassemble an engine. You people are being unfair to the President, it was the Secret Service that made the decision to not allow the President to handle his own umbrella.

This photo shows some of the terror and confusion involved in the President's early attempts to perform his own umbrella duties, after this event the Secret Service gave training to the President, but eventually decided that it was best to just keep umbrellas from him for the duration of his Presidency.
