The House Ways and Means Committee holds the first Congressional hearing on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) subjecting applicants for tax-exempt status to higher levels of scrutiny based on political leanings.
Witnesses include Acting IRS Commissioner Steve Miller who resigned on Wednesday and the Treasury Department’s Inspector General Russell George for Tax Administration.
Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) said the IRS' targeting of "American taxpayers based on politics is both astounding and appalling." He stated that the Committee will "get to the bottom of this practice and ensure it never takes place again.”
In announcing the hearing, Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI) said that it is "essential that there be a thorough and bipartisan investigation and effective remedial action.”
Since June 2011, the Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating whether the Internal Revenue Service discriminated against taxpayers based on political opinions.
I don’t have much faith in the republican reps on this committee to do anything of substance.

This is going nowhere. The guy isn’t saying a thing. He knows he is protected. Look at him, he isn’t even moist let alone sweating. He has been promised to be protected and if not protected, pardoned. These creeps have mutual leverage in their cabal of crime against the people. He knows what has been done and for protection he won’t tell.
These cretins have the pattern down pat. Deny, deny, deny, deny. Know nothing at all. Use the system against the system... the burden of proof is on the system and the perpetrator walks until the system can prove and convict. If the system can’t find a jury that will convict it is all for nothing.

Miller taking the so called fall...low levelers can simply be utilized and then cut out....also delays so those responsible at the top can prepare...they’ll know what the committees want to ask by going thru the lower level people.

When I lived in Seattle, he was well-known as “Baghdad Jim McDermott” and the name has stuck over the years.
With good reason. Back in 2002, Stephen Hayes reported on how Baghdad Democrats David Bonior, Jim McDermott, and Mike Thompson took a trip to Iraq in the run up to the invasion and followed up with a report on how Saddam’s cash paid for the junkets.
Now, the AP has a new report on the payments:
Federal prosecutors say Saddam Hussein’s intelligence agency secretly financed a trip to Iraq for three U.S. lawmakers during the run-up to the U.S.-led invasion.
An indictment in Detroit accuses Muthanna Al-Hanooti of arranging for three members of Congress to travel to Iraq in October 2002 at the behest of Saddam’s regime. Prosecutors say Iraqi intelligence officials paid for the trip through an intermediary.
In exchange, Al-Hanooti allegedly received 2 million barrels of Iraqi oil.
The lawmakers are not mentioned but the dates correspond to a trip by Democratic Reps. Jim McDermott of Washington, David Bonior of Michigan and Mike Thompson of California. There was no indication the three lawmakers knew the trip was underwritten by Saddam.

Paraphrasing, but when Paul Ryan was questioning him, Miller basically said he answered the questions last year truthfully according to how the questions were asked of him at that time.

In the meantime Benghazi goes unanswered, and the IRS ramps up for enforcing Obamacare under the direction of the IRS wench who was in charge of harassing conservative groups as a political weapon.
