My cousins carried the gene from their mother who died after a long protracted battle with breast cancer. One cousin died at 32 and the rest had preventive mastectomy. They are cancer free and have lived a long time.
The gene carriers really are living with a time bomb.

While I am no fan of hers, after losing a sister to breast cancer I have nothing but HATRED for this sorry killer. No matter who it is affecting.

She had reconstructive surgery over 3 months, I’ll bet her boobs look better now than before. I’m sure we will see in her next movie.
BUT, this radical surgery is crazy. You could die tomorrow being hit by a bus. Why would you believe a “doctor” about this? They are one credibility level above weatherman and two above car salesman.
I just now heard on Fox that it is more like a 60% chance and there is a 12% chance already for everyone.
Also, this per cent is over your lifetime. What per cent of those 60% are near the end of their lives anyway?

As a lung cancer survivor, I can say without a doubt, if I found that I carry the gene for breast cancer, I wouldn’t think twice about it. Cut them off. I barely miss my right lung, and it was still serving a purpose. My breasts finished serving their purpose many years ago. Just get rid of the offending parts, so I can go on about my business.
Cancer. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Angelina Jolie is certifiable. This is like a guy getting his penis cut off to prevent something. The imagery is stomach churning. Genetics do not determine everything here. If a woman has such a history of family breast cancer and is very worried then eat a super clean diet and get closer to God. Take you chances with this rather than getting body parts sliced off.

She made a brave choice in having the surgery. Every time she sees her scars, she can know she chose a course that will probably prolong her life.
She is doing a service in bringing it out to the public. How many women will see this and know they can make this decision if their circumstances are similar?
C’mon people. Even if she weren’t a libertarian, and even if her dad wasn’t a conservative, must we delight in this just because she is in Hollywood? We are better than them. Some of these posts are shameful.
