One of the mysteries in the Benghazi scandal has been the role of David Petraeus, who was then the Director of the CIA but was forced to resign in a personal scandal shortly thereafter. While the White House and State Department tried to cobble together talking points to explain away the terrorist attack that took four American lives, what did Petraeus do? According to new information reported for the first time by Jonathan Karl on ABC News This Week earlier this morning, Petraeus rejected the final version as useless

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Useless talking points from Useful Idiots
The only “talkie” (conservative? talk show host) to bring up the complete dismissmal of military commanders in that area was Mike Savage. Obama purged the whole bunch, Army Marine and Navy right after Bengahzi for some pretty strange reasons.
‘Tis a pity that General Petraeus was burned as a sacrifice to the altar of “Get Herself, the Cold and Joyless, elected to the Presidency in 2016”.
General Petraeus was a much better person than that. But in the tight-lipped stoicism that men of honor consider to be one of the significant markers of their trade, he has said little, accepting the “punishment” meted out to him as his wages for dealing with the Current Regime now squatting in the White Hut.
But the little he does say, speaks volumes in regards to the duplicity and chicanery to which the Current Occupant has stooped to in the few years that have gone into the active deconstruction of the guiding principles that once held reign in the territory formerly known as “The United States of America”.
That tormented land, no longer certain of its mission or its future, has fallen onto hard times, its image as “the shining city on the hill”, tarnished and darkened to as to make it indistinguishable from the rocks and dirt from which it has once stood so proudly as a beacon to the world.
Series question: Did administration try to bribe Petraeus before he resigned because of affair? I have wondered since last fall.
Anyone wanting on or off this ping list, please advise.
She is damaged goods.
A timely reminder. I rummaged around a little and found some of the names. The first one here is easily the most interesting one, next to Petraeus of course:
“On Monday, U.S. military officials denied claims from a Washington Times blog that Gen. Carter Ham, former head of U.S. Africa command, may have been fired due to an intent to disobey defense secretary Leon Panetta’s order to “stand down” while the Sept. 11 attacks in Benghazi were underway.” (October 29, 2012)

“Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has reportedly demoted the former head of U.S. Africa Command, who was accused of spending thousands of dollars on lavish travel and other unauthorized expenses. A senior U.S. official says Panetta has stripped Gen. William ‘Kip’ Ward of a star, which means that he must now retire as a three-star lieutenant general. Ward must also repay the government $82,000.” (November 13, 2012)
“US commander General John Allen resigned on Tuesday, announcing his retirement from the military despite being nominated for top allied commander post in Europe, reported The Washington Post. ... Allen, who oversaw America’s military effort in Afghanistan for 19 months, said the decision was prompted by his wife’s failing health, according to the Post. “Right now, Ive just got to get her well, Allen told the Post in a Sunday interview. Its time to take care of my family.” (February 13, 2013)
I believe that both Libya and Syria were recipients of Saddam's WMDs.
Saddam had 'em before the war and they went somewhere.
It would be imperative to all Democrats that this information NEVER BE REVEALED.
I believe the CIA was in Libya supervising the removal of these WMDs. The ambassador knew this. Petraeus knows it. Hillary knows it.
The ambassador and three brave men were sacrificed to the Democrat's political ambitions.
Seems to me he just folded his tent rather than fulfilling the responsibilities of CIA Director.
At a minimum he should have forwarded to Obama (and Susan Rice if he knew she was going to appear on the Sunday morning talk circuit) that the video was not an event in Benghazi and that the Prime Minister of Libya himself asserted the attack and killing of 4 Americans was due to a terrorist attack.
Patraeus is no hero, far from it...
He offered no excuses, while the Obama admin, which has not even a shred of integrity, has been spitting out nothing but a long string of excuses about everything. Everything.
Don’t forget Admiral Gouette.
Or was that Admiral Gaouette?
Do tell. It was all I could do to find those three with some lucky googling — I didn’t know any of them by name.
The way Petraeus suddenly announce he had an affair and so was resigning always struck me as odd.
Was someone about to out him? Or was someone threatening to blackmail him?
Actually the ‘Kip’ Ward matter suddenly looks a little more interesting — he was also in “AFRICOM” with Ham, but wasn’t shown the door. Quid pro quo? Demotion instead of the sack and you keep your mouth shut?
