EXCLUSIVE: Man Arrested For Allegedly Shooting Realistic Toy Gun With Kids In Queens Park
CBS New York ^ | May 8, 2013 | Dave Carlin

Posted on 05/09/2013 8:22:38 AM PDT by ConservativeInPA

As CBS 2’s Dave Carlin reported, Jack Pawlowski was led out of his Queens home in handcuffs Wednesday, with his stunned wife and three young kids looking on. He said nothing as detectives put him into a squad car.

. . .

Pawlowski told CBS 2 he took a toy gun, and two of his kids, around the corner to Ditmars Park. It was around noon and packed with kids and their parents.

. . .

Another mom who was on a playground at the park at the time said she walked up to Pawlowski, and told him to take the toy gun and his kids and leave.

“I don’t tend to take things lying down, so I went past the parents, and so I walked straight over and I confronted him,” said Leni Calas. “I mean, he’s brandishing a firearm and I don’t care if that firearm is plastic. That’s unacceptable.”

. . .

He remained in custody Wednesday evening, on charges of reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a minor, resisting arrest, and possession of an illegal BB gun.

The only charge I’d face would have been beating him senseless.

It’s pretty common in liberal cities that ban guns to also ban “look-alike” guns, basically any toy gun that doesn’t have the bright orange marker on the barrel. It sounds like that is what they got this guy on.

“Thankfully the guy’s kids didn’t have candy cigarettes in their mouths in addition to their dad playing with a piece of plastic molded to look like a gun.”

I would hope somebody goes back to the park to “stalk” this woman and her kids. If there are any balls in her posession or pointed objects, the police should be called to take her away for posessing “toys” that could harm their childre.

Very intimidating. You should see my teenage daughters shoot my AR’s. They end up becoming boy magnets at the range.

“And jail seems WAY over the top.”

Just looking at the law, and air soft guns (and BB guns) are illegal in NYC. In New Jersey I was reading where an airsoft or BB gun pistol needs to be registered as a real pistol, and the penalties for having an illegal “pistol” are the same for airsoft, bb, or regular firearm! (3 to 5 years prison).

I have my doubts that one even exists

You lose.

NYC Administrative Code section 131b: "b. Air pistols and air rifles; selling or possessing. 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to sell, offer to sell or have in such person's possession any air pistol or air rifle or similar instrument in which the propelling force is a spring or air.."

I have five boys under seven and they have about a thousand plastic guns. If some busy body Leftist twit gave me a hard time, she would get more than an ear full.

We are living through the fall of Rome. This is the pussy-fication of America. Any boy that acts like a boy is humiliated, yelled at and forced to take psychotropic drugs to make them act more like a girl. It is a direct result of the Leftist Feminist movement.

How long till the modern day Vandals & Barbarian hordes, they are the low life Muslim hoards now, force their way through the gates of the city and scatter Western Civilization to the four corners of the globe for a millennium?

Exactly.

Ok..the woman in the park is an ignorant twit. But the cops?

What the heck is with the trumped up and overblown charges?

I hope he sues the pants off everyone involved.

What a collection of dorks.

That is scary. Using a straw to propel a spit ball could qualify as an illegal weapon.

If witnesses testify that this guy brought a loaded BB gun to a crowded park full of children, shot it at a tree, let his 3 year old son fire it, then let his underage daughter ride around the park on her bike with the gun pointing it at other kids, then he deserves to be whip lashed.

And it has nothing to do with being anti gun. If this parent allowed his children to do this at an NRA picnic, parents would be just as angry.

Most every conservative gun loving parent would be mad.

I’m glad NYPD is spending their time and resources going after dads playing with their children and toy guns. We wouldn’t want them spending time arresting real criminals.

It's always safer for the cops to target the law-abiding than criminals.

Look closely and you will see a toy plastic hand grenade that fired caps. A popular toy in the 60's. Pull the pin, toss it, and the spring loaded spoon flipped and released the striker mechanism. Loud satisfying BANG!

This Diane arbus photo was taken in NYC's nanny filled Central Park in 1970

At that time the murder toll was about 1200 and upwards per year. Bombs were being set off almost weekly by the radical left. Yet that cap-firing grenade and cap pistols caused no panic.

If the boy in the photo appeared in the same spot in Central Park, NYC would go in lockdown. Raise the bridges, close the airports, apartment by apartment searches. If it just saves one child. If only one crazed woman's hyper-sensitive feelings are protected from feeling threatened it's all worth it.

It is beyond a laughing matter -- the guy is still in jail.

Old joke: guy on phone with lawyer buddy:

Lawyer: Hahaha! Don't worry about it, George; they can't arrest you for that!

George: But, I'm calling you from the jail!

Yet gang bangers who shoot people walk free.

Truly upside down at this point. The Founders would not recognize this nation.

What in the hell is an illegal BB gun?

I know in NJ you need a Firearm ID just to buy a BB gun or a slingshot.

Soon it will be illegal to read Guns & Ammo magazine in a NY airport. After all, the pictures might scare somebody.

The law has been on the books for decades. Here are the two bb guns that this father had. The clear one looks to be legal. The silver realistic gun is what is illegal.
