Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann spoke tonight at Maryland Right to Life's Third Annual Banquet just outside Baltimore and announced that a bill to repeal Obamacare will be introduced next week.
Bachmann stated that every Republican in the House is expected to support the bill. She started off her remarks by complimenting Baltimore on being the home of crab cakes, the Super Bowl champions (which drew cheers) and Nancy Pelosi (which drew jeers). She told the crowd "2 out of 3 isn't bad".
Her remarks mentioned the horrors revealed by the Gosnell trial and how the media wanted to pretend it was an "isolated incident" much in the way they try to make every Islamic terrorist bombing seem like an "isolated incident" but we know the truth.
She talked about the story in the Bible of the woman using expensive oil on Jesus and how some complained that it was a waste. She wanted the crowd to know that their time money and efforts to promote the Pro-life cause, even when hitting a wall of opposition, is never a waste. Ignore the critics and do what is right.
Bachmanns comments came after a short speech by Maryland's lone conservative congressman-Andy Harris. Harris, a doctor whose wife Cookie is very active in the Pro-life movement, also spoke about the Gosnell trial. Along with other Pro-life Republicans, Harris has been talking about the Gosnell trial on the floor of the House in an effort to get more media attention on the issue.
The Dems are already getting really, really nervous about Obamacare (that ‘train wreck’ comment got traction!) and the last thing they want is to have to vote for it again. Michelle can cause some mischief with a repeal bill. Of course, Obama won’t sign it (& won’t pass the Senate), but I’m all for making the Democraps squirm as much as possible. The Repubs should be made to squirm & pay the piper as well for not defunding the monster - it is killing America economically & soon, will be killing Americans via actual healthcare policies.
Boner will see to it that this goes nowhere.
I don't think so. The House budget is the "Ryan budget" and he claims that there are no dollars in it for Obamacare.
In any event, the Conference Committee -- if there is one -- won't agree on a budget. That will leaves things as they are -- the government expenditures operating on autopilot, controlled only by the Current Services Baseline.
That's the way Harry Reid and the 'Rats want it.
Surprised at all the PhonyCon Liberals on here denouncing Bachmann and her proposed Kill ObamaCare Bill
It will at least put on record who is for, and, against ObamaCare
March 2014 is a day of recknoning...and when people start getting fined for not having insurance...watch out
Love you, Michelle. Just sent you $20 bucks!
Nice! And next time some ahole on here starts bashing baby boomers, I’m just going to say “Michelle Bachmann...Sandra Fluke”. Says it all.
Sorry Folks... I’m with Mark Levin on this one....
I find it very difficult to stomach a bill from republicans to repeal Obamacare when they have supported and voted for multiple bills to fund Obamacare since it was implemented.
This is NOTHING but an attempt by republicans to regain favor.
It is evidence to me that the republicans are sensing the massive disconnect they have brought upon themselves by disenfranchising their own constituents to maintain their political clout in the halls of congress.
They know damn well that their “repeal” bill won’t see the light of day in the senate let alone a signature from the destroyer in chief.
Maybe they should start taking notes from Cruz.
Maybe we might notice them like we are noticing him now if they FOLLOW his lead.
Well, don’t compare the House with the Senate is the first rule. Yes, the Republicans could and should stand up for their part in allowing this monstrosity to come to a vote in the first place!
But... if you are going to actually place blame on anyone it should be on Reid who used unethical practices to allow this bill to pass without any Republican votes at all.
So yes, you can say that Republicans allowed this crap to pass but at least allow that most Republicans tried to stop it.
While I don’t have any sympathy for these folks that let it get that far, it is now law (thanks to a Supreme Court that does not understand the Constitution) but it can still be changed thank goodness and it will!...eventually if only to save the country (even the Democrats will eventually agree).
She voted for Bonehead as speaker.
She talks a good game, but not much else.
It starts here and will eventually become a full blown effort by both Republicans and Democrats to change this thing dramatically. If not repeal, it will look nothing like it does today!
Unfortunately, it may happen too late to save the Country from going into unsustainable debt! Only factual evidence many times over will persuade the Democrats though...
Ah yes, and I’m sure she regrets it at this point! You do have to look at the politics a bit (as crappy as that is) and understand that these folks thought that Boehner was the conservative leader that they wanted. I would imagine that she has also been disappointed so don’t lay it all onto her.
She maybe she should apologize for her vote here but would that really make a difference now? Time to get Boehner out of office and get a real Republican into the leadership. That is what she should be pushing for - also!
I don’t forgive easily.
Repeal goes nowhere fast....just DEFUND it already.
Nor do I sir! Have almost given up on the Republican Party these days. Seems that they are too much like the Democrats only a bit less big government (but not enough by a long shot).
Well, actually, have given up on them - have not voted for the last couple elections just because they have not inspired any difference between them and the Democrats!
It is a sorry state of affairs these days...
Ted Cruz is the only one I would trust with this these days!
To do that you would have to get Boehner the crying buffon to go along with it, and he won't.
Bachman lost any credibility with me when she voted to keep Boner as SOH.
I would not doubt that Bonehead shoots this one down
I’m tired of symbolic gestures. We all know the House could repeal, we all know the Senate will not repeal, and we all know the thug in our White House will not sign a repeal even if it gets there. So lets stop pretending and start governing.
Plan A: De-fund ObamaCare. Let the minority who support this giveaway see that it’s not really going to happen (thank God!). Then after a year or two with no funding for the fiasco or for its enforcement, then repeal that monstrosity. We don’t need to score political points for pretending to repeal it when that’s not practical. We need to kill that evil program before it kills us, and giving the democrats cover for killing it “it was failing anyways” is the best way to kill it.
Plan B: slip a repeal into a gigantic conference bill without telling anyone at all. The House and the Senate will approve it, the druggie will take a moment away from golf to sign it, and then we’re free when someone mentions “oh, by the way” a couple days later. I like “Plan B”.
People’s understanding of Obama care is changing, besides there are some new faces that need to go on record regarding the issue.
