Sen. Charles Schumer said Monday he is putting his full support behind legislation aimed at stopping the production of undetectable plastic guns that can be made using relatively cheap 3-D printers.
A Texas-based libertarian group has successfully been able to produce a functioning plastic handgun using a 3-D printer that anyone could purchase, Schumer said. He said the group plans to post on the Internet how to go about making this cheap, but functioning weapon that could pass through metal detectors at airports and elsewhere.
Schumer (D-N.Y.) said he is joining Rep. Steve Israel (D-Huntington) who has pushed for new legislation in this area.
"Right now, if you are a terrorist, you can buy one of these 3-D printers and make guns," Schumer said. If you are a felon, you can make these guns. It's perfectly legal. We have to stop this."(continued)

There were no blacksmiths in the land of Israel in those days. The Philistines wouldn't allow them for fear they would make swords and spears for the Hebrews. ~1 Samuel 13:19
>> “Right now, if you are a terrorist...” Schumer said.
Who is “you”, and what about later? Such a brilliant individual.
“...undetectable plastic guns...” Undetectable. Wow. I gotta say I’m impressed.
The cat is out of the bag relative to 3d guns. No legislation will be able to prevent it. The gun control proponents will use this as a reason to tightly control ammunition.
They will have to ban most basic hand tools too, and confiscate a lot of everyday materials.
These people are morons.
You can make a plastic, metal and/or wood gun with a few machine tools. Anyone determined to do so can do so right now. It doesn’t take a 3D printer.
So when are they going to start criminalizing knowledge?
What frightens Chuck Schumer is not that a terrorist might make a gun, but that American citizens will certainly make guns.
“this cheap, but functioning weapon that could pass through metal detectors at airports and elsewhere.”
Didn’t they say the same thing about Glocks back in the 1980s? (well, except for the cheap part).
Also, aren’t bullets still metal? It seems to me that a plastic gun isn’t much use without a metal bullet.
Yeah, we're pretty much helpless, aren't we? Except if the good guys happen to be armed too. Then we're not helpless at all. And that is what Chuckie is really afraid of. BTT.
Bang.
They are not undetectable you idiots.
There are plenty of metal parts in the damn thing from the barrel to the receiver and the spring at a minimum ...

Sen. Charles Schumer.......truly a worthless POS.
If I had wanted to build a modern design I would have figured out a way, it is all just carving wood and metal. I suppose it would be a problem for Chuckie Schumer, he probably can't change a light bulb on his own.
You cannot regulate human intelligence and determination, they will always find a way, and tyrants always hang, sooner or later.
Little Chuckie is always making weewee about something or other.
This week it appears his self-urination is over plastic guns.
The barrel is all plastic from what I could see in the youtube video. I think the only metal part was the firing pin which was made from a common nail.
Those felons and terrorists are known for abiding by the law.
You need a “plastic” that can handle the 12-15000 PSI of the .45 Colt cartridge.
THEN you would really have something.
