NBC Bay Area ^ | Sunday, May 5, 2013

Posted on 05/05/2013 1:19:30 AM PDT by Lonely Bull

The westbound lanes of the San Mateo-Hayward bridge were closed for several hours Saturday night due to a deadly fire involving a limosine.

The California Highway Patrol said the fire was first reported around 10 p.m. in the third lane of westbound state Highway 92 at the bridge's decline. As many as ten people were inside the limo and as many as five of them died, according to multiple reports

Witnesses at the scene reported people were trapped inside the burning limo. The CHP told NBC Bay Area there were multiple fatalities, but could not confirm a number.

Witnesses told NBC Bay Area the limo was not involved in an accident prior to catching on fire. It was not clear what could have sparked the flames.

This is prom season, so there were fears that the group could be high school students on their way to a dance, but the Hayward Daily Review newspaper spoke to a CHP officer who said the victims were not teenagers. but adult women.

Maybe doors that automatically unlock with the loss of power would be good.

Our Ford van the doors automaticly lock when drive is engaged.
I hate the damn thing and the rear doors do have to be unlocked for the passengers to be able to exit. The child saftey lock for rear doors has to be disengaged every time the door is opened and closed. I constantly have to exit the vehicle to open the rear passenger doors to allow the passenger to exit. The front driver door will open with pull of handle.

I just never thought it was all that much work to crank a window down or pull up a lock.

That was what I thought immediately as well, but...let’s give it a few days to get sorted out.

Agreed. We are all about free speech, but it is in bad taste to make light of this.

Sure. They might have been doing all kinds of things, and be front runners for the Darwin Award.

But they might also simply be victims of an unfortunate accident, and they likely have husbands, children, families and friends left behind.

I have fallen prey to this impulse to make a joke because one can, but the Internet makes that too easy.

I’ve got manual child-door safety locks, but all 5 doors and windows are electric. Don’t like ‘em either.

Yea really sucks in the winter when you go thru the drive up and your power window goes out and gets stuck half way up!

That cocaine lie was initiated by the insurance company trying to get out of paying Rick's family and the other families as well.

A faulty heater started that fire, Rick had been clean and sober for years when he died.

“Could be when the car was stretched, the gas lines were done improperly.”

My guess also. Most cars have the fuel pump in the tank and they produce a fair amount of presure for the injectors. A leak could produce a very combustable mist.

It's threads like these that make me see why this country has fallen victim to a third-world commie like Obama. Our side is supposedly the good side yet a significant percentage of those on our side don't deserve a country that's any better than any other hellhole on earth.

I made the mistake of washing the Jeep in winter at a DYI carwash, put the driver's window down halfway as I was having a smoke, and it froze, until I could get it home and into a warm garage to thaw out. -25°F will do that quickly.

So you can explain why traces of coke and marijuana were found in his blood during his autopsy?

Pryor "explained" what happened to him on the Tonight Show..his first public appearance after the accident..

"Every night I go upstairs to bed with my milk and cookies..I crawled into bed, propped my pillow up, dunked a cookie into the glass of milk, and the s**t blew up in my face.."

I thought Johnny Carson was gonna die from laughing so hard..

Some can laugh at themselves...

Year ago, when Pintos were in the news because of problems with gas tanks causing fires, there was a lady who commuted every day on I-95 near Stamford, CT, in a yellow Pinto. She painted on the large rear window, in big letters:

STAY BACK. I EXPLODE ON CONTACT!

I can only hope that should I go out in some spectacular fashion, that FReepers joke about it.

If I go in a more mundane way, please remember me through the jokes and stories I’ve told over the years.

I think more of the parents of those girls, would they appreciate people joking about their dying horrifically? Mind you, I like dark humor as much as the next guy, but this isn’t one of those times.

I worked for a company that stretched limos, about 28 years ago. They had new fuel lines and brake lines already made for the proper length of the stretch.

Unless the stretch was done by some backwater outfit, most of the stretches are pretty well professional jobs.
