Lindsey Graham: ‘Enemy combatant’ (In Spades!!!)
Politico ^ | April 20, 2013 | KATIE GLUECK

Posted on 04/20/2013 12:55:08 PM PDT by yoe

Several Republican lawmakers are calling for the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings to be tried as an enemy combatant, rather than as an ordinary criminal.

“It is clear the events we have seen over the past few days in Boston were an attempt to kill American citizens and terrorize a major American city,” read a Saturday statement from Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), John McCain (R-Ariz.), Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) and Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.). “The accused perpetrators of these acts were not common criminals attempting to profit from a criminal enterprise, but terrorists trying to injure, maim, and kill innocent Americans. The suspect, based upon his actions, clearly is a good candidate for enemy combatant status. We do not want this suspect to remain silent.”

Their statement came after Dzhokar Tsarnaev was taken into custody and sent to the hospital Friday night.

[snip] “America is part of the battleground,” he said. “If you capture someone on the battleground, they should not be given the privilege of a civilian trial where they are given different rights...

[snip] “We continue to face threats from radical Islamists in small cells and large groups throughout the world,” they said. “They have, as their primary focus, killing as many Americans as possible, preferably within the United States. We must never lose sight of this fact and act appropriately within our laws and values.”

If the evidence is there I’d support it but you and me know they wont do that.

They stopped following the law and the constitution a long time ago. As i said once you cede one bit to the Feds they take an awful lot and that’s where we are today.

” Don’t fall for Little Lindsey’s routine. He and McCain are only posturing to distract from the immigration disaster that led to Boston.”

All this is!

He did not commit a federal crime

Actually he did. It's one that has the death penalty, too. 18 U.S.C. 2332a Murder by the use of a weapon of mass destruction.

I thought it was a pretext in search of a statute. I didn’t like it much, but people wanted to see him fry and the way they did it cut years off the usual wait time. In the state, it would have taken 15-20 years, but in the Federal courts, it took 5. The strata of appeals were much fewer.

....the need for “comprehensive reform”. I put nothing past them.

Excellent point!

Natural born citizen only applies to if he can run for president it doesn’t apply elsewhere.

Anyone accused of a crime by King Obama deserves protection under the constitution

Damn right. We are at war against the barbaric Islamic terrorists and all nations who harbor and support them. These two were traitors in our midst, the enemy within. Try him in a military court and hang him high!!

I notice the media and pundits are all in agreement that we need more surveillance cameras.

This is how the constitution dies.

Federal statute not in the constitution.

All of these in the “code” are bad and should not exist.

Just remember the Feds consider Christian organizations “hate groups” who are next on the list to be discriminated against.

Seems like you are trying to 'quiet the Christians' through intimidation with your little reminder as you know this is a Christian site, newbie. Did you chose it purposely to defend the terrorists and/or to imply Christians are seen the same as these terrorists, so Christians should side with them? I think probation for newbies is a good idea, also. Not just for the slime cowards that hide in boats.

I would agree with you if he was natural born and swore no oath, but that is not the case.

Who's keeping an eye on all those "natural born" offspring of Chinese and Mexican mothers who come here only for birthing babies to take advantage of our stupid citizenship law? No one, I'm sure. I'll bet plenty of pregnant women from potential jihadist countries do the same.

This Boston terrorism opens a whole new chapter in which easy American citizenship is literally breeding a new generation of Islamic and other terrorists that will be extremely difficult to prosecute under existing law. We've seen just the tip of the iceberg.

Personally, I thought the Feds worked in such an expedient fashion to keep him quiet, didn’t want the middle eastern connection to get out.

I remember there were videos that “disappeared” showing questionable evidence and people connections that was silenced.

Feh, who knows?

Good catch! Perhaps the newbie will realize he’s on the wrong site to push ‘his idea’s that are showing a lack of knowledge’ while being adamant about it.

His citizenship should be revoked first.

If not, Sarah Palin will be declared an enemy combatant before too long.

I’m a conservative and constitutionalist through and through and have been since I was 19 years old .... now in my 30s.

I dont like the idea of giving the FEDS such power and authority.

I believe the federal government is a racket and most of it should be closed down and returned to the states.

King Obama should not even be involved in this. He should leave it to the Bay State but he can’t help himself.

He lusts for power like most politicians.

As i said be careful with what power you cede to the feds because one day they will come for us or at the very least believe they can do things like provide healthcare and redistribute wealth.
