Once this guy is taken down, someone is going to have to explain how law enforcement let the younger brother escape from dozens of police officers last night. I have no doubt the individual officers did their best, but there was clearly a flaw in the operational planning if this guy could run the gauntlet and evade pursuit when it looked like half the Boston PD was present at the shootout.
What are they doing now? Have they gone to lunch or something?
It is possible the older brother told his younger brother to get out of the hijacked car before the police showed up for the chase and eventual shootout. “Get out kid and run. I will lead the police on a chase so you can get away. Go!”

My thought is that these two brothers were resposible for second bomb.
Others set off 1st one. The younger brother carried the actual bomb. Older brother set it off.
I’d bet friends.

Good point winodog. Why were there so many people in that area with large backpacks, if they were just watching a race? It certainly made it much easier for the two triggermen to blend in with the crowd. The FBI needs to cast the net as wide as possible to determine if their were co-conspirators. Just because an individual did not carry the bomb does not mean they were not involved. The question is whether the FBI will be permitted to conduct a thorough investigation or whether they will be ordered to down tools once the 2nd suspect is taken out?
Another one of my random musings (which is likely wrong). Maybe they DO have him in custody and are in the process of interrogating him and don’t want the others in the cell to know. Seems odd that this 19 year old kid could escape a massive police chase and search, when hardened criminals can’t manage to evade a few squad cars in a getaway.
