Austria has accused the UK of being a haven for money launderers ahead of an EU meeting in Dublin, with Cyprus, Ireland, Portugal and Slovenias (potential) bailout needs also on the agenda.
The Austrian finance minister, Maria Fekter, described Britain as the island of the blessed for tax evasion and money laundering in an interview with her countrys Kurier newspaper on Thursday (11 April).
Comparing the UK and its protectoratesmicro-states subject to British lawto Cyprus in terms of hosting secretive foundations and trusts, she noted: Just as we urged the abolition of sealed foundations in the Cyprus rescue to drain the money laundering swamp, we must demand the same of the United Kingdom.

A country with a government that is 30 percent neo-Nazi ought not even speak against anyone else. Fekter is a member of the Peoples Party (Christian Social party), but she is a bit shaky

It's a delicate balance when socialists/Marxists are in charge.

>>> the island of the blessed for tax evasion and money laundering
So Austria is heading towards French pres François Hollande’s tax scheme, and this is the pre-emp strike?
Why wouldn’t she ask the reason why people want to ‘evade’ paying taxes instead?

The UK needs a new Thatcher, not another Euro sycophant. I met Mrs Thatcher once, she was gracious and interested in us, people doing and going about our professions and life. She was not the media portrait people are quite happily embracing and demonising.
