Senators to announce background check deal (11am presser Manchin and Toomey)
NBC News ^

Two key senators have reached a deal to expand background checks to firearms sales at gun shows and on the Internet, sources close to the negotiations said early Wednesday.
Sen. Pat Toomey, a conservative Pennsylvania Republican, plan to announce the deal Wednesday with West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, who holds an A rating from the National Rifle Association.
The two have been working on a compromise proposal that could draw Republican support for expanding background checks. On Tuesday evening, the two had an agreement in principle, and spent the night hammering out the final details.

RE :”
AWR Hawkins said last week that Blumenthal will introduce poison pills in order to kill the bills” that is what I have been recommending as it hurts O much more if its his failure versus just blocking it(which seems doomed to fail now anyway) , or obviously if he gets a bill that really does much.

Internet sales? I don’t believe you can buy a gun on the internet without going through a dealer. Have I been missing something or is some legislator or perhaps a reporter ignorant?

The NRA gave an "A" rating, and an endorsement to Rat-Bastard Joe Manchin. It did so twice.
Now, Rat-Bastard Joe Manchin and his enablers in Leftist Big Media are using that rating and endorsement as cover for their gun-control bills.
Thanks for giving them cover, NRA. Well done.
I've been saying for 3 years it was a bad idea.
I WAS RIGHT!
Don't try to defend the indefensible, don't try to pretend that NRA didn't f@@k this up badly, and don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining.

I'm sure the "NRA is Always Right" crowd is shocked (SHOCKED, I tell you) to see this happening.
HEY NRA! QUIT ENDORSING LIBERAL DEMOCRATS!

I have been sending Toomey e-mails for weeks asking him not to do this. I told him I don't understand how a man who claims to be for less government and economic freedom could do this. I told him i was sick of Republicans betraying us.
I have met him, shook his hand, put up his signs, sent him money. If he does this I AM DONE WITH HIM FOR EVER.I WILL NOT SUPPORT ANOTHER ARLEN SPECTOR IN PENNSYLVANIA.

I'm sure the "NRA is Always Right crowd is shocked "They'll probably have some lame excuse as to why the NRA did the right thing in rating these anti-gunners "A" I've noticed over the years that there are a lot of posters on this forum who are not in the least conservative.

Thats why I joined Gun Owners of America instead. I'm a member of both. Also JPFO and the West Virginia Citizens Defense League.
NRA gets no money beyond my dues, though. I really don't trust NRA/ILA not to stab me in the back

They'll probably have some lame excuse as to why the NRA did the right thing in rating these anti-gunners "A" The line I ususally hear is that it gives NRA 'leverage'.
So ... where's that leverage?
I expect an NRA "A" rated Senator to be a leader in preserving and recovering our RKBA. Rat-Bastard Manchin is a leader in eroding our RKBA.

I've noticed it too. What's absurd is the way they get all butt-hurt when called on it. Didn't they read the forum description when they signed up? We oppose abortion, sodomy, gun control, etc. We are conservatives. Not libertarians, not "fiscal conservatives", not moderates.

I’m holding my breath for the day GOA sells out. It seems these days that everyone on the right has a price. I know that sounds awful, and I hope they never do, but I just can’t be surprised anymore, I don’t believe.

I heard one of the proposal will be to exempt all family transactions from background checks and the other will have to do with extremely limited record keeping, if any at all.

Not libertarians, On the scale of most to least conservative, I'd rank libertarians and constitutionalists as more conservative than most so-called conservatives. What I've noticed is that there are a number of people who seem moderate or even liberal in their views.
A couple of months ago I got into it with some tootsie roll who said that I had to have been in a mental institution because I opposed background checks. I told her Nope, that was just the price of freedom - that if you have to ask the government's permission it is no longer a right. You don't have to ask anyone's permission to exercise a right. She failed to reply - probably went off to have a good cry.
Another poster -one "spunkets?" called me a parasite because I called welfare recipients parasites.
What I can't understand is why these people don't just stay on DU. That's where they belong. I don't post on DU because I don't think like they do. Why post here if you're going to espouse the socialist/statist point of view.
