Damn good question.

Libtards are always focused on stuff, not criminals.

The TSA is the poster child. They will confiscate knitting needles from grandmothers while ushering a Muzzie terrorist to the front of the line.

Internet sales? I don’t believe you can buy a gun on the internet without going through a dealer. Have I been missing something or is some legislator or perhaps a reporter ignorant?

The NRA is against it:

What I am afraid of more than Background checks is expensive permits, licenses, taxes on firearms. What they will do is make firearms so expensive, half of the people could’nt afford to keep firearms. That to me is a direct violation of 2nd Amendment.

The 1st Amendment does not have any restrictions, taxes, permits. Why should the 2nd Amendment have restrictions.

Excellent point!
This point should be loudly proclaimed by the NRA and gun supporters everywhere, because many neutral folks are in favor of background checks.

Yes, but if the Dems start adding amendments to it...

We must not fall into the trap of using the Dems' fraudulent paradigm.

it’s hard for me to see why background checks are so bad to be honest.

But, simply for the potential of abuse I oppose expanded checks.

That said, any bill would be significantly changed in the House. No need to freak out about the Senate.

RE :"Guy from Judicial Watch was on the radio this morning, saying basically that whatever Fed level gun control is introduced, it will be DOA in the House.'

The Boehner house??? I wouldnt count on that. The same House that passed VAWA this year with added protections for gays and illegals (wimmin)??
In fact months ago I remember Gilb showing me a post where Ryan said he is for enhancing background checks.

As a general rule it depends on how many vote for it in Senate. If only 51 pass it then Bohner might ignore it, if 65 or 70 pass it in Senate it will be on Os desk.

RE :”I do not know why I bother to post anything, no one reads anything I have to say except for you.”

HA-Ha, That beats getting called names :)

This one is dangerous because enhancing background checks is the most popular proposal they have, shows up in polls as >90%.

And the other side is really turning up the heat keeping those victim parents on camera looking sad and upset, even though a background check wouldnt have stopped that shooting..

Of course I also saw a poll where 5% say its their most important issue.

Wait till amnesty.

ryan and most of em will go along with *enhanced* background checks, as the nra/lapierre talking point has been the lack of *enforcement* of the laws on the books for years...and its for the children, ya know... i bought into that line of bs back in the late 90s, and read waynes 'guns, crime and freedom' [still have it on the shelf] with an attitude of that being a good argument...

we'll get the old 'if you havent done anything wrong, you have nothing to fear from a background check' spew from the rin-o-ps, and boner will trade us away for 36 holes and a bottle of cheap scotch...

This is exactly the problem, and just like everything else these communist bastards do, the average person will be unable to afford it yet the rich left will easilty afford security or guns. These pigs are all about taxing people into the gutter.

as someone else said the expense and burden of getting a gun will now have only the elite with the means to defend themselves.

Screw these tyrannical bastards. this a a money and power grab.
I can’t believe this tbh.

The cost is getting ridiculous. Don’t own a gun, but after shooting my brother’s AR-15 at Thanksgiving in the country, I admit....I want.

Too blasted expensive, especially paying off some recent medical bills.

I hope the prices will come down, but demand just keeps going up as they debate more bills. If something passes, don’t see the prices suddenly dropping.....

Manchin is a low-life POS. But then we all knew he is a democrat. Toomey is a lower form of life. One can only hope that neither of them ever again holds public office.

I have been sending Toomey e-mails for weeks asking him not to do this. I told him I don't understand how a man who claims to be for less government and economic freedom could do this. I told him i was sick of Republicans betraying us. I have met him, shook his hand, put up his signs, sent him money. If he does this I AM DONE WITH HIM FOR EVER.I WILL NOT SUPPORT ANOTHER ARLEN SPECTOR IN PENNSYLVANIA.

Amen!

The House should pass legislation requiring grade schools to practice security protocols twice monthly.
