US 'plans tit-for-tat response to North Korea'
The Daily Telegraph ^ | 4/8/13 | Damien McElroy

The United States and South Korea have reportedly drawn up joint plans for a retaliatory set of tit-for-tat responses to any strikes by North Korean on its neighbour.

The scale of the response has been set down in a new war plan to ensure that there is no unintended escalation into broader war.

The new "counter-provocation" plan is calling for an immediate but proportional "response in kind" to North Korea if it decides to launch a ground attack or a missile, the New York Times reported last night, citing unnamed US officials.

Under the plan, the source of any North Korean attack will be hit with similar weapons, the report said.

If the North Koreans were to shell a South Korean island that had military installations, the plan calls for the South to retaliate quickly with a barrage of artillery of similar intensity, the paper noted.

White House officials are attempting to downplay the military build-up on the penninsula in an effort to calm the situation. Dan Pfeiffer, the senior advisor to President Barack Obama, said on Sunday that North Korea had display similar behaviour "many times" in the past.

>>Americans are in it to win.

The official policy of the US government since 1945 is NOT “in it to win it”! It will let the troops win for while, but always insists on spending a gazillion dollars to fight primitive savages to a draw and will sacrifice as many American lives as it takes to make the people on college campuses and newsrooms demand our surrender.

1) The quote in your post is not mine! It was in italics to show that it came from the person I was replying to.

2) I want not only retaliation, but brutal retribution for ANY nation or people that screws with us. When it came to W and his response to 9/11/01, I was, and still remain, sickened. GIVE these animals democracy...HAH!!! Mecca, Baghdad, Damascus, Riyadh, Tehran, Kabul, Beirut and Tripoli should have been turned to glass. Unlike far too many FReepers, the attack on the WTC was NOT a TV show for me. I saw it first hand. I knew people murdered that day. No amount of pontification or rationalization by you or anyone else on this board is going to change my thinking on this matter. Unless islam is wiped from the face of the planet, Western civilization is doomed.

If the Norks screw with us, the same should happen to Pyongyang.

I could make a case that this policy SAVES lives.

The ONLY lives it saves are those of our enemies. Take that act on the road, pal because it doesn't play on this end.

This “strategy” sounds like a football coach announcing that his team plans to rush for 1 yard in response to each yard the other team gains.

Mutual Assured Destruction is not in the vocabulary of our faggot Leader. Right after the first strike, Odumbo will blame it on Bush.

That is inconsistent with U.S. Military warfare doctrine, as least the way I recall it back in training at Ft. Benning. The doctrine calls for the use of overwhelming forct applied to the weakest part of the enemy’s forces.

I understand and agree with your point about the need for massive retaliation.

But please reconsider your use of illustrations.

Rape of wives and daughters is not an American war tactic. It's what the Soviets did to the Germans via organized rape squads. Our practice was to destroy the German military, then hand candy bars to the kids in places we occupied, and then to help Germany and Japan rebuild their countries.

You won't find many people more opposed to the North Korean dictatorship then me. Some of my relatives were dragged north as slave labor by the Communists during the Korean War as “enemies of the people,” I have relatives who will be among the soldiers going to war against North Korea if war breaks out, and I fully expect civilians in my family to die if North Korea unleashes an artillery barrage against Seoul.

Anyone who knows the ROK military knows that they don't pussyfoot around when it comes to military tactics, and I have considerably more confidence in President Park's resolve to fight than I do in President Obama. If North Korea actually does attack and President Park decides that Obama will back down, we'll hear no more nonsense about “proportional response.” The South Korean military is trained to fight on their own soil in a horrible and brutal war. If let off the American leash to fight without American aid and American restrictions, they'll do just fine without Obama’s help — and probably better.

However, both South Koreans and Americans know there is a huge difference between destroying an enemies’ military and raping wives and daughters.

Let's do the first and do it right, but court-martial those who do the second.

If you want to see people advocating “lamentation of their women” and saying “clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters,” go read this:

NEW FATWA PERMITS RAPE OF NON-SUNNI WOMEN IN SYRIA
http://www.humanevents.com/2013/04/02/islamic-cleric-rape-of-non-muslim-syrian-women-permitted/

(Hat tip to Freeper Mount Athos at this link: http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3005720/posts )

Islamofascists and Communists may advocate rape of defeated women, but rape as a weapon of war isn't an American tactic. We court-martial soldiers who do that stuff.
