In a measure of solidarity with those affected by the budget-slashing government sequestration, President Obama is giving up 5 percent of his salary for rest of the year, which is almost as admirable and sensible as a mansion-owner shutting off his marble fountains during a drought.
This is not to imply that the president shouldn't demonstrate some unity with those who've been furloughed or lost work because of the blind slashing the sequestration prompted. People like Jeff Maryak, profiled by BuzzFeed, who is considering re-enlisting to make ends meet after a 27 percent pay cut. People like those who've lost access to critical public services as government employees have been told to stay at home. Obama should certainly show that he understands how the cuts — which he signed into law — are hurting people across the country.

He has already furloughed himself 3 or 4 days a week so he can golf.
If they taxed Obama on all the free perks he and his family get (the private jets, the vacations, the parties...), his salary would not even put a dent in the tax bill.
Knowing him to be a Chicago thug and crook, I just figure he'll do whatever he can to hoodwink the public.
My income is down 50% this year. I’d be happy if he gave up 99% of his salary. I figure that’s about what he’s worth.
How about paying 5% of all the vacation money spent?

Federal fiscal year ends September 30, so he’s only giving back 2.5% for the whole year. Drop in the bucket.

“Solidarity with federal employees”? Give me a break. We’re facing a 20%—not 5% pay cut. And we don’t get free meals, free housing, free protection, free vacations, free golfing, free evrything like the president does. And we make a great deal less, and have a much less generous pension plan. Solidarity my a$$. And I INVOLUNTARILY give back a third of my pay to his damned taxes. This makes me want to puke.

With the president and Congress, it isn’t their salaries that are massive, it is the perks they get. Those perks tally up to $millions.

President Obama could take no salary and he would not feel a thing.
Resign? I think he should abdicate. He acts like he is unemployed now cause he sure ain’t doing the job we are paying him to do. What is the difference? Sit on unemployment for years, draw disability, get food stamps, wear pajamas all day, and just basically screw off. He sits on his rear, goes golfing, etc. He has “999” tattooed on the back of his head, just like the people on unemployment who have been on it for 999 weeks. What you have to remember is that just like the satanists who invert the cross. If you stand him on his head it ‘correctly’ reads “666”.
