In Mexico, the people would wipe out the Codes office for doing this.

Maybe the town will see the light if a couple thousand Marines show up at the next city counsel meeting.

Soooo.... Tell me once again of this mythical place. You know... The home of the Brave, the land of the free?

Property rights, one of the things the Founders most believed in and what we gave up when some of us didn’t like what our neighbors were doing to the “Private Property”. You know, like not painting it often enough, or pink Flamingos in the Yard. Or heaven’s to Betsy, a Clothesline! How Gauche, get a electric clothes drier.

Yes, I know Trash filled yards piss me off too. But under a free country you have to learn how to deal with that. But today we sic code enforcement on em’.

Those who are offended by our flag should find a country they will be more comfortable in.

Oh, did you think that he had the right because it’s his property? No more. We have the illusion of private property. That is we pay the taxes, the insurance, the bills, and we have the responsibility. But it’s not ours since we can’t do what we want on it.

Goal #1 of communism - eliminate private property. Done.

I don’t want trashed up yards either but, honestly, a flag pole is technically no different than a bird feeder or mailbox mounted on a pole and shouldn’t be considered a structure under any sane definition of the term.

His first mistake was moving into a neighborhood like this to begin with.

I live in a neighborhood of Americans proud to be Americans, Most every yard has a flagpole, and the neighbors only complain when a flag gets ragged and needs replacement.

Marine veteran ...
His veteran status is inflammatory ... it doesn't matter that he's a former Marine.
His rights are being violated as an American citizen, not as a Marine.
Semper Fi ...

If congress wanted to do something useful, they would enact a law that says it is lawful to fly the American Flag Anywhere! In the meantime, the Vet should tell them to come and take it!

I hope he’s got some balls and refuses to take it down. It’s about time we stand up to these wannabee local thug dictators.

Or heaven’s to Betsy, a Clothesline!

That pisses me off most in our community. I love the smell of clothes that come off the line. Our community does not allow for such tragic sights. The “put out the garbage can” and “bring back the garbage can” hours are great though. You take the good with the bad.

Donald Trump also got in trouble for the same violation at one of his properties because a flag pole was X feet higher than the building. If he didn’t fight back there is no hope — but there will likely be some accommodation after all the negative publicity for this case.

I agree. When we moved back to my home state of Alabama, from the Peoples Republic of Socialist/Homo Washington, we found a home out in the country, away from people, plenty of clear fire space, and I immediately put up my flag pole. I refuse to live in any home controlled by a home owners association. And live in any city controlled by the socialist dimocrats. Thankfully we live in Alabama, controlled by republicans (like that is saying something positive).
