Or ..Let’s see, he could be perfectly normal and still be between life and death? At any rate I bet he feels more like he does now than he did awhile ago.....

Important safety device? Perhaps they mean a ventilator, just in case he’s not quite dead yet.

There is a majority of Sunni states in the Arab league. Assad is (or was.....but probably still is) an ally of Iran, a Shiite state.

So which branch will run the new Caliphate....Sunni or Shiite....

I guess they will fight over it to the death.

Sunni or later Shiite happens.

Hello Peter...Yes, there are many events happening currently with resignation of the rebels leader prior to this supposed news of Assad's death or attempted..... Then adding Obama’s visit there, and the soon following rockets from Israel into Syria...one does ponder these events and can arrive at several possibilities of what's happening.

Below video of Israel's rockets hitting Syria....from RT.

A plausible reason for this story is perhaps that it’s disinformation created by the rebels to sow confusion and distrust among the loyalists, with the secondary motivation of turning Syrian loyalists against Iranian helpers.

Very good point. We are also seeing a new story about Allawites in the Syrian military trying to rebel against Assad. Of course the stories never stated just how many were rebelling. Half a dozen ? We saw the same type of pile on drive by stories the last time Obama tried to assassinate Assad.

The rebel leader that resigned, said the rebels crossed a red line. Obviously that red line was their use of Chlorine Gas in the recent attack. So those supporting the Terrorist Rebels, had to play their last card. Another attempt on Assad’s life.

I wondered about him, too.

The caption on the Wikipedia page says the photo was taken at "a reception of delegates from different parts of the USSR, September 1938". Yezhov was arrested the following November.

Of course he’d still have to be north of room temp to order an attack on anyone.A more likely scenario iare his minions running for the exits and taking whatever they can as barter for their lives. This is how WMDs are likely to get into the hands of very bad people I thought the commies in Russia might do this with nukes but I guess Gorby and Yeltsin had the KGB keep a lid on. But getting out some canisters or arty shells of Sarin A&B is easy. These may not rain on Israel but may wind up in Times Square.

WMD's are already in the hands of very bad people. The Muslim Brotherhood running Egypt. That was the country that brought WMD's into the middle east many years ago. They have also used them in the past. The Syrian Rebels recently used Chlorine gas against Syrian troops. So WMD's are out of the bag and many governments are gonna be falling.

And yes Assad has probably left orders to launch if he was killed, but that play requires his survivors to still be willing to push the buttons after he is dead. Not guaranteed.

There is no chance of a caliphate, because — just as in the Middle Ages — there is no Islamic solidarity.

The Saudis had been concerned about getting surrounded — Yemen was simmered down after 40 or 50 years of partition, civil war, etc, then blew up again during the “Arab Spring” — and got screwed in Iraq, and for that matter in Egypt, and are working harder and in concert with the GCC, seeding as many friendly/allied/puppet regimes as they can.

The main problem for the Saudis is, internal division, intrafamily rivalries, and of course devotion to various nut-job deviations of Islam — which is itself the fountainhead of nuttery.

If Assad is dead it will take our lazy ass media 2 days to confirm it. Chavez was dead 2 days and the former Head of Egypt was dead from a stroke before they confirmed it.

The our State run media will confirm when Obama tells them to confirm.

Thought I read a recent article that some Turk was calling for another Ottoman Empire ? Was that considered a Caliphate at the time ?
