Earthquakes Turn Water Into Gold
NBCNews.com ^ | 17 March 2013 | Becky Oskin

Water in geologic faults vaporizes during an earthquake, depositing gold. This model provides a quantitative mechanism for the link between gold and quartz seen in many of the world's gold deposits.

About 6 miles below the surface, under incredible temperatures and pressures, water carries high concentrations of carbon dioxide, silica and gold.

During an earthquake, faults suddenly open wider.

It's like pulling the lid off a pressure cooker: The water inside the void instantly vaporizes, flashing to steam and forcing silica, which forms the mineral quartz, and gold out of the fluids and onto nearby surfaces.

So does this mean we can create gold in an earthquake mimicked experiment?

That’s a great stock tip.

The next time a meteor threatens, I’m going to short gold AND short the human race.

A twofer!

This means that all the gold in the gold belt from Georgia to Pennsylvania ~ along the fault lines of a meteor that hit the Delmarva peninsula about 35 million years ago ~ has not yet been found.

I'm renting a backhoe to dig into the backyard tomorrow!!!!

in other words the water is not turned into gold, it is vaporized and the mineral deposits are left behind, including gold. The gold already existed and is not actually created in this process.

Hence the headline is garbage

Not much different than the environ-Nazis claiming that coal-fired power plants "create" mercury. Mercury's an element - it would take reassembly of an atom to create it! needless to say, in the dumbed-down America, many fall for the BS.

I’ve heard estimates that only 5% of the gold has been discovered, 95% remains to be recovered.
