If it hasnt already been done, I figure it is time for the new verb - to drone - to be officially brought forward into the world.
In order to celebrate this shift in national awareness, several new songs that include and exemplify the verb are offered below.
[It was, BTW, IMHO, just too easy to do a take-off on Bob Dylans Everybody Must Get Stoned, where a great song can be had just by substituting Droned for Stoned throughout: Theyll drone you where youre driving in your car .... etc. But it still might be nice to see somebody put it all into print for a sing-a-long here.]
So, if you suspect you may be on somebodys unapproved list of citizen-targets on US soil, regretting something youve said, done or even thought, here are a couple of others. [Sorry for my lack of formatting ability - "So drone me"]
1. A take-off on Are You Lonesome Tonight? by Roy Turk and Lou Handman, most famously sung by Elvis Presley
Were the drones there tonight,
Did they miss you tonight?
Are you sorry you went there to dine?
Did your memory stray to that long ago day,
When your email betrayed your true mind?
Did your cell phone reveal you were at that cafe?
Did the Hellfires drone in, on your homeland today?
Are you moaning tonight, dead or groaning tonight?
Tell me dear, were the drones there tonight?
[And, then . . . ]
2. A take-off on Dance Me To The End Of Love, by Leonard Cohen
(Verse I)
Drone me to your transformation, now that you have won.
Drone me with your Hellfires as your comrades cheer you on.
Drone me POTUS, drone me SCOTUS, Congress dont say Nay.
Drone me to the end of days.
Drone me to the end of days.
(Verse II)
Drone me while Im sleeping once the SWAT team kills my dog.
Drone me for my emails, and my votes, and for my blog.
A citizen, a veteran, but not a useful cog.
Drone me to the end of days.
Drone me to the end of days.
(Verse III)
Drone me, Im Republican, conservative, and male.
Drone me, Ive a gun, a voice, but never been in jail.
A Birther, Truther, Clinger, and my skin colors quite pale.
Drone me to the end of days.
Drone me to the end of days.
(Verse IV)
Drone me to your beauty of due process dead and gone.
Drone me from your list the patriots are all now on.
In a cafe Hellfires whirling up my ass at dawn.
Drone me to the end of days.
Drone me to the end of days.
(Verse V)
Yes, drone me Holder, drone me Big Sis, drone me TSA.
FBI, BATF, and maybe CIA.
Drone me, drone me, drone me, drone me, drone me night and day.
Drone me to the end of days.
Drone me to the end of days.
Enjoy.
One for each major city on the I-5!
Well, looks like like I’m WAY behind the curve on this one! LOL!
Still, hope some might enjoy the tunes . . .
Thanks for those great pics.
I checked out some nutball leftist media over the weekend, and the pacifist wing of Obama’s base is turning on him with a vengeance over this Drone thing. Rand Paul’s strategic move here may end up paying even greater dividends than we think!
I see a booming business in painting anti drone messages on the roofs of vehicles, and perhaps, re-shingling a house with contrasting colored shingles to do the same.8^D
Rainy Day Woman #12 and # 35 (Everybody Must Get Stoned/Droned) Bob Dylan
They’ll drone you when you’re trying to be so good
They’ll drone you just like they said they would
They’ll drone you when you’re trying to go home
They’ll drone you when you’re there all alone
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get droned
They’ll drone you when you’re walking on the street
They’ll drone you when you’re trying to keep your seat
They’ll drone you when your walking on the floor
They’ll drone you when your walking to the door
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get droned
They’ll drone you when you’re at the breakfast table
They’ll drone you when you are young and able
They’ll drone you when you’re trying to make a buck
They’ll drone you and then they’ll say good luck
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get droned
Well they’ll drone you and say that it’s the end
They’ll drone you and then they’ll come back again
They’ll drone you when you’re riding in your car
They’ll drone you when you’re playing you guitar
Yes But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get droned
They’ll drone you when you are all alone
They’ll drone you when you are walking home
They’ll drone you and then say they’re all brave
They’ll drone you when you’re sent down in your grave
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get droned
