House GOP Leaders: We Can Pass Gun Control, Immigration, Without Republican Support
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | March 10, 2013 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 03/11/2013 5:46:17 AM PDT by Timber Rattler

With more and more conservatives in the House rebelling against John Boehner’s increasingly questionable Speakership, Republican House leadership is now moving to quash in-house concerns by reaching across the aisle for support. Leadership is moving in the wake of a surprising move by 16 House Republicans to vote against a Republican leadership-crafted closed rule on a government funding bill. The rule was designed to limit amendments to the government funding bill, but some House conservatives, concerned over the Boehner team’s refusal to consider a floor vote on an amendment to defund Obamacare implementation, bucked Boehner on the rule.

After undergoing that unpleasant shock, House leadership hasn’t responded by listening to the concerns of the more conservative members of its caucus. Instead, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said on Sunday that he would be open to ramming through bills without the support of a majority of his own Republican caucus. Not just on small bills. On issues like immigration and gun control, McCarthy said, he’d be open to taking rogue Republicans across the aisle to work with Democrats.

Obama has a D next to his name and those in the GOP have an R next to theirs. We are the “R”s. We need to support the “R”s because they are not “D”s. Hopefully the “R”s will trick the “D”s and come out with their own ban on guns and tax hikes faster than the “D”s so that the “R”s will get the credit for the ban on guns and tax hikes instead of the “D”s.

The dying gasp of the RINO GOP.

Like I have been saying for months, the RINO GOP is dead.Obama has actually succeeded in killing off the Progressive ink blots of the GOP who can represent no body. The only grace these RINOs have managed in this new session is in allowing the sequester, and that was an issue forced by conservatives, so now the RINOs hate Rand Paul?

Let the frivolous psychopomps sell out.

Time for a third party.

The more Repubs try to look like Dems——the dumber they look.

They are falling right into the trap set by the cunning power-mad Dem-O’s——to divide and conqueur——to split the Repubs so’s the Dem-O’s can takeover at midterms.

There are also a lot more government workers (gun owners and non gun owners), more people on disability and depenendent on a government check and Obama phone. Unless the unemployment rate drops down below 6% between now and next year I doubt the election will be about gun control. In fact, the reason why the democrats are pushing for this NOW is to get it done, allow for a cooling down period among the elecorate, other issues will move to the front burner between now and election day, if the economy worsens you know very well that Obama and Pelosi will blame the republican House. If the economy improves they will claim it was because of Obama/Reid and could have been much better if the democrats had been in control of the House and NOT the Republicans.

Gun control will be discussed in 2014 about as much as Fast and Furious was in 2012 because the MSM will make it so.

Many of us forget the REAL enemy is Obama, not the GOP.

The backstabbing GOP-E is as much an enemy to Conservatives as Obama.

Several people have claimed that John Boehner has this job because NOBODY else wanted it. That tells me that the trap is being deliberately set by the GOP themselves so that they will lose the majority in 2014. It's really an easy way out if no republican really wants the job.

It's so much easier just to be the minority party.

The only traps being set are being set by the side that wants to lose.

We are too anxious to attack our own. Many of us forget the REAL enemy is Obama, not the GOP.

How do you tell the difference,I seem to lack the ability.

The election of 2014 better be the last one with GOP candidates. It is time for the Tea Party to consolidate and register as a real political party and run official candidates. We tried to take over the GOP from the elites and have failed.

RE :”The Stupid Party strikes again under the leadership of Sheriff Boehner.”

Their strategy this session from what I can tell, and from what I heard on cable TV, is to try to lay low and not draw (any more Negative) attention to themselves, to try to not lose more seats in November.

So they sit and wait till Reid acts and then they respond to whatever he passes.

Of course this leaves them with a complete vaccum of purpose for being in charge, just passing Reid stuff with Dem votes shows them as very weak.

THEN why isn't the GOP Leadership going after the WH clown, rather than bashing one of their own - Paul - while they are dining at a posh District of Corruption restaurant with the WH clown?

"In a statement to The Hill, McCarthy spokesperson Mike Long said: "Whip McCarthy strongly supports returning to regular order to bring legislation to the floor that has the support of a majority of the majority. Insinuation to the contrary is completely false.""

As soon as I read the first part of the article and the early replies I knew this was total b.s. You must stop confusing people here with facts. It's important for them to bitch piss and moan about rumor and innuendo.......

The sad fact is that none of the others challenged him as Speaker (by running themselves) and that Speaker vote was just after the tax standoff where Bohner passed that Reid compromise with Dem votes.

I was posting here for a couple of weeks before that to challenge your(their) favorite House member to take a real stand, where was Lou Gomert TX ?? Voting for Mickey Mouse instead of running himself?

And then the ‘Pubbies can get used to never winning the White House again, because we’ll go Third Party.
And the Democrats will dominate until the ‘Pubbies are finally tumbled into their well-deserved grave.

When your ‘leaders’ are indistiguishable from your enemies, how do you decide? How much cyanide do you want in your punch?

I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!
