House GOP Leaders: We Can Pass Gun Control, Immigration, Without Republican Support
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | March 10, 2013 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 03/11/2013 5:46:17 AM PDT by Timber Rattler

With more and more conservatives in the House rebelling against John Boehner’s increasingly questionable Speakership, Republican House leadership is now moving to quash in-house concerns by reaching across the aisle for support. Leadership is moving in the wake of a surprising move by 16 House Republicans to vote against a Republican leadership-crafted closed rule on a government funding bill. The rule was designed to limit amendments to the government funding bill, but some House conservatives, concerned over the Boehner team’s refusal to consider a floor vote on an amendment to defund Obamacare implementation, bucked Boehner on the rule.

After undergoing that unpleasant shock, House leadership hasn’t responded by listening to the concerns of the more conservative members of its caucus. Instead, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said on Sunday that he would be open to ramming through bills without the support of a majority of his own Republican caucus. Not just on small bills. On issues like immigration and gun control, McCarthy said, he’d be open to taking rogue Republicans across the aisle to work with Democrats.

I have my doubts about Mike Long’s backtracking in that update....McCarthy opened his big mouth, announced what they were going to do, and then realized that he had tipped over another hornet’s nest. Never believe any so-called “clarification.”

“Not with John Boehner as Speaker. Boehner should have lost his position in the House elections ago. It’s over for the GOP.”

We’ll see - I won’t give up until the votes are cast in 2014. Right now the Democrats are in ABJECT FEAR over gun control...knowing their history on that issue. Boehner may want to “pass legislation” (as they say), but he’ll still have to get the votes, and I still don’t think those votes are there.

Sounds like GWBush the morning after the 2006 elections — that he now had a Congress he could work with, to get immigration reform passed.

[Didn’t work for GWBush then. May not work for Boehner now.]

Their history on that issue is that they are FOR it, that's why they are democrats and those that put them in power already knew their history.

Those 16 or so who had a chance to end his speakership in January should have done so.

If the Republicans keep the House in 2014, they better do it in January 2015, or he will sell us out to the remaining Obama agenda.

We are too anxious to attack our own. Many of us forget the REAL enemy is Obama, not the GOP.

I hope not, but it wouldn’t surprise me

When you think about it... I mean REALLY think about it and look at all that Obama has done since 2010 from Egypt to Libya to the debt, the power grabs, unconstitutional moves, declaring Congress in recess when it was not - (with the exception of ObamaCare being passed) much more of Obama's damage has been done UNDER a John Boehner led House than it was under a Pelosi led House.

Now that is telling.

With the exception of ObamaCare, Obama has advanced more of his liberal agenda under a John Boehner led House than he did under Nancy Pelosi.

John Boehner is NOT on our side. He never was.

>>Not that I have any faith the ability to right things through elections anymore to begin with, but that’s the green light for a huge tear away of Republican party members to a 3rd party or formation of one nevertheless.

Yes. It is possible. It has happened already in Canada, which at one time was thought as unthinkable as many might believe now it is in the USA, and looks like it is about to happen in the UK.

It’s not pretty, and it is not quick, but it could happen. The big difference with those other countries, though, is SCOTUS. It seems to me it’s much more powerful in the USA than it’s counterpart elsewhere.

Of course they’re for it...but they still know what happens to them if they vote that way, at least the ones in competitive districts. Jack Brooks learned that lesson in 1994.

Time to tell the R’s they get no financial support from us ever again, and we WILL support a 3rd party.

In 1994 many more American voters knew what the US Consitution was. Today we have foreignors (millions of them) voting in our elections even though it's not legal, not to mention the Americans who think safety trumps the US Constitution. This is not 1994. If it were, you would have a very good point.

In 1994 to admit to being a socialist was only a few steps above being a child molester.

Now it appears to be the new fad.

Very true. However, I was anxious pissed off myself and went to the article (Ben Shapiro is the real deal) to verify it. H*ll, just last week Boehner said this!

Boehner: I won’t make practice of passing bills without GOP support

“Many of us forget the REAL enemy is Obama, not the GOP”

It is getting harder and harder to tell the difference.
Throw a bunch of pennies on the floor. Heads are Republicans, tails are democrats. Now stand up. Pretty hard to tell the difference, ain't it? Two sides of the same coin. Especially when using the most worthless coin in the pot.

I honestly don’t see any difference between the 2. Tell me the difference between Obama and the GOPe, again?

They are saying they want to pass bills with majority GOP support but if they cant get enough Republicans to sign onto alternative bills that pass the house (with all Dems voting NO), which is even harder this session than it was last session because they lost seats, then they will continue to pass the Reid bills with house Dem votes.
If the House GOP could pass alternative bills then I guess Boehner would take them to conference.

Putting up the Reid VAWA for a vote really was bad

the House is split into two camps : 1) The 'Dem light' camp and 2) the 'dont pass nuffin' camp, a pretty nice situation for Pelosi and Obama,.

There are also a LOT MORE gun owners today and this is the first taste they’re getting of the gun-grabbers. We also have our media sources, including this blog.

Either way, we’ll find out soon enough. One of us will be right.

When will people learn that the republican leadership are nothing more then Big Government New World Order socialists, and this goes back to Bush I and Bush II and includes Bush III.

They will give their friends in the Democrat party what they want, because they support the same agenda.

Yes, this means Rush, Hannity and all of the other conservative talking bobble hears are wrong or misleading us on purpose.
