Guns, criminals, the NRA and its minions (barf alert)

Ask police chiefs — we asked ours — about the need for background checks on gun buyers. They will tell you universal background checks would reduce the number of guns ending up in the wrong hands.

"To me, it's a no-brainer," Chicago police Superintendent Garry McCarthy told us last week. "We should have background checks on every person who buys a gun to prevent criminals, terrorists or, where appropriate, mentally ill people from getting guns. It would stop criminals from buying guns at gun shows. It would help prevent illegal guns from getting into the hands of criminals."

Police chiefs want universal background checks. So do voters. A CBS News/New York Times poll in January showed 92 percent of poll respondents support universal background checks. A Fox News poll showed 91 percent support from registered voters. Polls by Gallup and USA Today/Pew Research Center show the same results: overwhelming support for federal background checks.

organized crime needs political corruption from corrupt politicians, corrupt bureacrats, and corrupt staffers to exist.

corruption needs unarmed citizens to ensure the bribes flow.

Most of the ones screaming the oudest are not holding elected positions.

City Police Chiefs and Superintendents are usually appointed, aren’t they?

With 90% of the public supporting these anti-gun wet dreams, there should be no problem passing anything the anti-gunners want. The only reason there might be a problem is if the media is LYING, which seems to have become their stock-in-trade.

What use are background checks if criminals do not buy guns through dealers but off of the streets? Ban private sales and criminals will still buy guns off the streets. We have a criminal that put out the new gun laws here in Colorado. Looks like she is helping criminals by not passing laws against criminals and attacking law abiding persons.

Who was the politician who when confronted about the fact that when a particularly stupid criminal does try to buy a firearm through legal means and fails the background check, that pol stated that law enforcement is "too busy" to actually prosecute the criminal?!?! If the law is on the books, and they complain it's not working because they fail to prosecute violators, they should NOT get to make a new law to make it harder for law abiding citizens to buy guns!

And during their campaign, they need to be pursued doggedly and the fact they said that should be used to make a laughingstock out of them! A leftist can't be embarrassed, and has no shame, so the Alinsky tactic needs to be applied here. Use the left's tactics against them.

Mark

Chicago police Superintendent Garry McCarthy is a no-brainer.

Take care of your own runaway gun violence, Garry, and leave us law abiding citizens alone.

Oddly enough, Haynes v. U.S. ruled that felons cannot be legally compelled to register a firearm.

I imagine that same ruling would make it likely they cannot be compelled legally to either conduct or submit to a background check in a private firearms transaction, either.

The guy who ambushed firemen on Christmas was a former felon with a weapon. Apparently he was unconcerned with the law against it.

However I would have never let him out of prison again after beating his grandmother to death with a hammer but that’s just me.

Anyone with any sense can translate all these “Universal Checks would......” into a blanket mandate that says “we know who has guns and ammo, and we can get them any time we want”....it’s not any more complicated than that.

Whether they are politicians, liberals or their lackey LEO apparatchiks, it’s the same old story. Power mad Goose-stepping NAZIs who’d think nothing of blowing your brains out under convenient circumstances.

Sheerest idiocy from the Murder Capitol of the United States - which, parenthetically, has some of the strictest and most Draconian anti-gun laws in the nation.

Only an imbecile, a mental defective, or a blinkered hardcore Leftist would lend credence to this spew.

Police Chiefs lie on behalf of the liberal mayors who appointed them.

They present flawed data as fact and ill informed opinion, as a basis for anti-Constitutional policies.

These same mayors and Police Chiefs refuse to enforce existing laws to reduce violent crime.

There D.A. counterparts are complicit in this misuse of power.

Isn’t Garry McCarthy the Blue Gang thug who got drunk with his brother in Boston when he was a cop and started shooting wildly in the air?

I must have missed that show.

The Chicago Tribune is the Midwest version of the NY Times. Go to the Drudge Report and you can find more unfiltered news about goings on in the USA from the Brits or Pravda (Russian for ‘Truth’). The Chicago Tribune is the modern day equivalent of Stalin’s Tass or Izvestia or Goebbel’s Volkischer Beobachter [Radical Observer].
