Should the U.S. pull out of Chicago?

Body count: In the last six months, 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago compared to 221 killed in Iraq, and Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in the entire US! President: Barack Hussein Obama Senator: Dick Durbin House Representative: Jesse Jackson Jr. Governor: Pat Quinn House leader: Mike Madigan Attorney General Lisa Madigan ( daughter of Mike ) Mayor: Rahm Emanuel ALL DEMOCRATS

Thank you, Mr. President, for the combat zone in Chicago.

Of course, they're blaming each other!

Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!

The Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country!

Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!

State pension fund $78 Billion in debt, the worst in the country!

Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!

Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax 10.25%, highest in the country!

Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois ..

And he is going to “fix” Washington politics for us???

George Ryan is no longer governor, he's in prison! Of course, he was replaced by Rob Blajegovitch who is...that's right, also in prison! And Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned a couple of weeks ago. That’s because he is fighting being sent to…right again, prison!

The Land of Lincoln , where governors make the license plates!!!

“Is this where our country heading?”

I hope so because this would logically mean that Obama is eventually going to go to prison!

Actually, this raises a good point.

Democrats have had a hammer-lock control on Chicago for decades. Chicago has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country, so what give Democrats — any Democrat — the right to pontificate that we should follow their lead into gun control oblivion?

Demonstrate that Democrats can fix Chicago and then I'll listen to your fantasy hokum about how your taking away my right will make anyone safer!

It’s bad to kill people with Republican bullets, but it’s OK to kill people with Democrat bullets.....even here in the US.

Chicago is reaping the whirlwind from decades of one party rule and thugocracy. Obama’s Marxism fits well with this kind of governance.

Well, democrates have the logic of the islamic religion. For muslims to freely pratice & enjoy full peace they would need to dominate the world. Sarcasm off!

:) I pray for it everyday. The country needs to be destroyed in order for us to properly build it again.

Democrat bullets are shot with brotherly love. They don't even hurt. :)

I’d be willing to bet my next Soc Sec deposit that within the next 4 years, Illinois (and California and NY) will get federal guarantees for their state bonds to help their stunningly underfunded pensions.

Now I realize that guarantee is nothing more than Baraqqi/Bernanke/Geithner/Lew minibucks, but it will happen.
With that base of electoral votes locked, the Dems are golden forever.

One would think the recent experiences of Chicago’s sister city of misery, Detroit would’ve served as a cautionary tale about the fruits of corrupt, crony politics.

The societal decay that is consuming ever greater parts of Chicago is stunning. But ask any democrat and they’ll do their damndest to convince you it’s all on the rebound.

"Chicago is reaping the whirlwind from decades of one party rule and thugocracy. Obama’s Marxism fits well with this kind of governance."

More to the point.
Chicago is suffering from a misplaced admiration of the "Gangster Folklore".
Every Piss-Ant Punk wants to be the next Al Capone.
Maybe we should bring back the Charles Bronson type movies and glorify the “Citizen Enforcer”.

Chicago sits astride the traderoutes of the continent and it continues to be a great manufacturing center.

The problem consists of having too many bad people.

"Land of Lincoln, where the governors make the license plates"

Four in all within my living memory. Add to Blago (D.) and Ryan (RINO) the names of Gov. Otto Kerner (D.) who was sentenced to 3 years in Club Fed.....and Gov. Dan Walker (D.) sentenced to 7 years in another Club Fed.

Not a conservative amongst them!

The problem consists of having too many bad people.

But those aren't bad people, with bad values. They just have "the wrong values." I know this, because Rahm Emmanuel said so, while begging the gang bangers to go somewhere else while they murder each other.

“Chicago sits astride the traderoutes of the continent and it continues to be a great manufacturing center.”

Cringing Negativism Network would like that statement.

“The problem consists of having too many bad people”

Well maybe just the wrong people.

Snip:
“After years of declining employment in manufacturing due to off-shoring of jobs, good positions are actually going unfilled due to an insufficient supply of skilled workers,” said Randy Blankenhorn, CMAP executive director. “The shift to technology-intensive advanced manufacturing is creating new opportunities for businesses and workers here in metropolitan Chicago. Our report shows that today’s factory jobs often require not only math, reading, and critical thinking, but increasingly also call for workers to understand materials, physics, chemistry, engineering, or computer programming. As a region, we must bring community colleges and other training providers together with employers to train workers to fill these demanding — and rewarding — positions.”

http://www.cmap.illinois.gov/press-release-2-26-13/

Let me rephrase my original statement: “NO BLOOD FOR MANUFACTURING!”

hmm ~ did you realize that if you recruit among BFA degree holders with majors in painting or sculpture (lot of overlap in course content) you will get young people trained in all of that ~ plus the computers, plus the graphic control programs, plus welding, plus steel casting, bronze casting, silver castsing, plus ~ they can read color coded wires and that's just about the only thing you need to add to what they already know.

Leonardo d'Vinci was, of course, a painter, a sculpter, and an engineer ~ he invented the nut and bolt!

Too many inartistic people imagine the visual arts to be just a matter of knowing how to use photoshop ~ which is why they have no idea where to find the talent for those jobs.

Well, they should have plenty of prospects to choose from in the not to distant future.

“Governor Quinn announces $54 million for new Fine Arts Complex”

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/2990672/posts

The problem I see down here in southern NM with the copper mines is that to be hired they want 10yrs documentation of job history with absolutely no voids in said history. Doesn’t matter if a person has been welding all his life or grew up driving heavy machinery, if a person doesn’t meet strict criteria, much of which is not even job related, they will not get hired. I agree that a fine arts degree does have much overlap in various skill sets but it does appear that employers, no matter how desperate for workers, will not hire qualified individuals due to policy. I’d imagine in a heavily unionized city such as Chicago those criteria are even more strict unless of course a person knows the right people.

I don’t know what skill sets the gang members have other than maybe some business sense. They certainly don’t know how to shoot well.
