California's state Senate Democrats roll out big gun control package (Considering to Confiscate)

All semi-automatic rifles with detachable magazines would be banned, all guns would be registered and no ammunition could be bought without a special permit in California under a sweeping list of bills rolled out Thursday by state Senate Democrats.

The 10-bill package constitutes the single largest gun control push in decades in the Golden State, which already boasts some of the nation's strictest gun laws. It joins equally controversial proposals from Assembly Democrats that would regulate and tax ammunition sales and consider taking the state's 166,000 registered assault weapons from their owners.

This first unified California plan comes less than a month after New York adopted its own sweeping package of new gun controls and President Barack Obama announced a package of executive actions, all in the wake of December's Connecticut schoolhouse massacre. Even as this plan emerged Thursday, House Democrats' gun violence task force was announcing 15 "policy principles," including protecting Second Amendment rights but also instituting universal background checks and reinstating a federal assault weapons ban.

"We respect the Second Amendment right of law-abiding citizens to have guns for hunting, for sport,

proliferation of guns designed to be fired and reloaded rapidly," he said. "We can save lives by getting guns and ammunition out of the hands of the wrong people. We can save lives if every gun owner knows how to safely handle those guns. And if we can save lives, we must act to do so."

Gene Hoffman of Redwood City, co-founder and chairman of the Calguns Foundation gun rights group, countered that "almost every item in the proposal is wildly unconstitutional."

Looks like I best be packing.

I packed seven years ago, and landed in Texas. Best damn move I ever made.

I don’t believe liberals from California are moving to Texas - they hate us. I do believe conservatives are moving here.

I concur with that statement, Marcella.

Of my large, extended family in California, I am the sole conservative Republican, and the ONLY one who's relocated to Texas. My kin are all fairly hardened liberals, and wouldn't think of living here. They're already living in paradise, after all. (barf)

There’s no opposition to speak of to force a need for watering the bill down. California is a one-party state. Not only will this go through in its entirety, but it will go through with lightning speed.

It’s time to get the hell out of here.

If they do this, I must leave. There’s no sense giving up any more rights. California, I love you, I’m your native son but I cannot live under the tyranny of a nut case named Waters( and so many others), Boxer, Feinstein( who already ruing my cousins farms out on Hwy 80), no more Gavin the homosexual parader Newsome, no more radical change agendas in every dagumed college I’ve gone to or visited.
Tolerated enough. And now with the illegals, sanctuary cities, poor getting so many good items forcing us ...enough is enough. This is bad; absolute madness! Oh and response time for a sheriff out here IF nothing else going on? 40 minutes.
The writing is on the wall, this is a sad end to a once great state.

What they forgot to say was that they respect the right of criminals to have their illegal guns.

True, so true. It's so dagumed aggravating to not hear even a peep about the illegals and illegal gun owners.

We ARE talking the 2nd Amendment of our Constitution here. I believe in spite of the Leftist domination of our legislature here in California there will be severest of repercussions to anything the Leftist Democrats will propose, or make into law.

I hope you are right. I have no faith in the sheeple any more - but I hope you are right and I am wrong.

Plus, the older you get, the more stuff you have and the harder it is to move it - plus, ammo weighs a lot. :p)

Ammo, wheatberries, tin foil - I have a LOT more to move than I did 8 years ago (which was our latest move).

You have to think outside the box. It's "the People" who are voting that are the problem.

Our rights come from God, NOT from "the People". When "the People" demand the abolition of God-given rights, the system has failed decisively.

It's time to start discussing what comes next.

yes, I talked about the sheeple that voted them in in the post right after that one.

Rabbi Cahn did a great job telling exactly where we are headed and why at the prayer breakfast last week.

I hear ya! If this goes through, we'll move out of state and hubby will have to commute. I'll have to find a new job but it will be worth it!

That's great he can commute. Wish mine could. I try every week to find jobs elsewhere for him.....

I saw the writing on the wall in 1994-1995 (Roberti-Roos) and pulled the eject lever on CA then. You’re a bit late in coming to the same conclusion...

Do you have any idea how accurate that “gun violence” chart is”?

There are a lot of blue areas that I’m not aware of being particularly violent (Vermont and the Lake Tahoe area) and red areas that are hell-holes (St. Louis and Milwaukee).

Power plants - gas turbine ones.

Well, we were in Texas for 2 years. I was born there. Honestly, I would never go back. It’s invaded to the hilt. And the summer weather is unbearable for me in the eastern part.

Many cities in California have serious Mexican gang problems but due to California now swamped by Mexicans legal and illegal, nothing much gets done.

If the Repubs continue to go along with amnesty, then the “11 million illegals” will “unexpectedly” turn out to be more like 30 million. Almost all here for “free stuff” and fairly low income and so good Democrat voters. And the Repubs will have “provided the rope” the Dems will hang the Repub Party with.

And USSA elections will, if you can imagine, become even more corrupt ala Hugo Chavez in Ven. Where polling was 70/30 against him, but after Chavez “counted” the votes, the final numbers were 70/30 for him.

And the USA will be locked into socialistic fascism for the forseeable future....like China, like Cuba, like.....

The Dems if honest, should rename themselves the “Socialist Fascist Party” as they are that in effect now.

Obaba and the Dems view the Constitution slightly less useful than toilet paper.

The USA has fallen.

“Many cities in California have serious Mexican gang problems but due to California now swamped by Mexicans legal and illegal, nothing much gets done.”

Sadly, it’s not just Calif cities. The rural, mountain areas have armed cartel members guarding their pot farms all over public lands. And not just Calif. Oregon is almost lost to the gangs. Two gang home invasions in my town in one week.

“and consider taking the state’s 166,000 registered assault weapons from their owners.”

Keep your eye on Siskiyou County, California’s northern most county. Jon Lopey, our sheriff will NOT allow guns to be confiscated. The State of Jefferson may just rise out of this!
