Wednesday, January 30, 2013 Hart Senate Office Building, Room 216 10:00 a.m.

The Dems will have this packed with anti-gun supporters. If anyone can make this hearing tomorrow, it would really be great.

The schedule for CSpan isn't posted yet for tomorrow.

Graham, Cruz Request Judiciary Committee Work to Allow Firearms for Education, Display and Discussion Purposes at Gun Control Hearings

http://lgraham.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressRoom.PressReleases&ContentRecord_id=88adf046-9ceb-e508-7a4a-d7ac9c65fa96

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today wrote Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy requesting the Judiciary Committee work with local and federal law enforcement to ensure that at future hearings Senators can request, and law enforcement will provide, various firearms for education, display, and discussion purposes.

“In anticipation of tomorrow’s hearing on gun control, we instructed our staff to work to ensure various unloaded firearms, under law enforcement supervision, could be brought into the hearing,” wrote Graham and Cruz, members of the Senate Judiciary Committee. “Our offices worked with various officials in local and federal law enforcement, as well as the Senate Sergeant at Arms, but it appears that the requirements to secure the weapons at the hearing are so impractical as to be unworkable.”

“Our goal is simple — to educate fellow Senators and members of the public how and why firearms are used by millions of law-abiding Americans for self-defense, hunting, and sporting purposes,” said Graham and Cruz. “We also want to shatter the mistaken belief that guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens are a danger to society. It is every bit as important we make that distinction as it is to note that one gun in the hand of mentally-deranged individual is one too many.”

The wrong question is being asked. We don’t have a “gun violence” problem.

Once again, the left is framing the terms of the debate to their advantage, and the real point is not being addressed.

Since most shooting in urban environments are done by blacks against blacks, ban blacks from owning guns.

LMAO That ought to draw some fire.

Since the entire point of having the populace armed was as a safeguard against Federal over-reach, the first thing you do is not tolerate the Senate holding a hearing about firearms.

It’s none of their business.

“What Should America Do About Gun Violence?”(Senate Hearing)

Capture and jail for significant time criminals who commit violent crimes with ANY weapon, not resulting in loss of life of permanent incapacity.
Death or life imprisonment at minimum subsistence levels or hard labor for any violent crime resulting in loss of each single life, with any weapon.

A murder victim really is in no position to care whether her death was caused by a rock, a machete, feet inside a boot or an "assault" rifle. She is equally and permanently dead.

Guns are not the problem. All these psycho mass killers are public school educated liberals. Liberalism should be declared a mental illness and liberals should not be allowed to vote or own firearms.

I think that would solve the problem.

We pay a price for defying God’s plan for mankind. Today’s ‘father figures’ are female; In the schools, daycare and at home. Unless that changes, the downward spiral continues..

David Kopel would be the only one worth listening to. Wayne LaPierre often does a poor job explaining the 2A viewpoint.

What Should America Do About Gun Violence?

First, stop incoherently separating it from other violence by using "gun" as an adjective: the victim bludgeoned to death with a length of pipe, the man stabbed through a major artery, or the woman beaten to death by an abusive "boyfriend's" fists are just as dead as the latest shooting fatality in Chicago.

Second, recognize that violence happens a lot less in places where a reasonable number of law abiding citizens are armed with firearms than in places where they are not.

How about making more .223 ammunition and more 30-round magazines for AR-15s available? That would help.

1. Nearly all gun violence is criminal on criminal. So nobody cares. Reinstitute the death penalty with swift trials and appeals, coupled with high standards on prosecutions, evidence and judges. It shouldn’t take more than 12-24 months to complete.

2. You cannot stop a madman through gun control. It’s a hairy problem, but front page media stories drive most nutjobs to copycat. Should we muzzle the press or can they restrain themselves? (they do it for Obama - how about for innocent lives?)

3. Let’s have Constitutional Carry for the rest of the situations.

Problem solved.
