Gun Owners Refuse to Register Under New York Law
New American ^ | Jan 25, 2013 | Alex Newman

After Democrats in New York rammed a sweeping assault on the right to keep and bear arms through the legislature that failed to exempt police officers from the draconian restrictions, gun owners and even some lawmakers are planning what has been dubbed potentially the largest act of civil disobedience in state history. According to news reports, gun rights activists are urging everyone to defy far-left Governor Andrew Cuomo’s new registration mandate while daring authorities to “come and take it.”

Analysts say the legislation, passed in a frenzy last week in the wake of the Newtown shooting, represents the most brazen infringement on the right to keep and bear arms anywhere in the nation. Among other points, the so-called SAFE Act seeks to limit magazines to just seven bullets, require virtually all of the estimated one million semi-automatic rifles in the state to be registered with authorities, mandate reporting of patients who express indications that they may have thoughts about hurting themselves or others by doctors, and more.

Aside from being unconstitutional, experts on gun violence also point out that the draconian schemes are a bad idea: Studies have repeatedly shown that more guns lead to less crime, and the phenomenon is obvious across America — just compare Chicago or D.C. to Alaska or Wyoming. The mandated reporting requirements for doctors, meanwhile, have come under fire from across the political spectrum. Whether it will even be possible to enforce the bill, however, remains to be seen.

Preparations are already being made for mass resistance. “I’ve heard from hundreds of people that they’re prepared to defy the law, and that number will be magnified by the thousands, by the tens of thousands, when the registration deadline comes,’’ said President Brian Olesen with American Shooters Supply,

“Resistance must be without rules if it is to be successful, because all the advantages are on their side”

A toast. In honor of JEB Stuart.

The government is preparing for the next civil war. But it will not be the north against the south. It will be the people against the government, so calling it the next civil war is a misnomer. It will be the next American Revolution.

Actually, it will be more like rural vs. city. NYC has less than a weeks worth of food on hand, like most large metro areas.

I'd suggest starving them into submission, among other things.

It’s not that he thinks the killings didn’t happen, it’s that he thinks there’s some intense diabolical conspiracy to make them happen, involving hundreds of people involved revealing nothing, and expecting all reporting at all stages of the event either be perfectly informing or completely fabricated ... all despite the fact that, in a nation of 300,000,000 people, someone snapping and killing a bunch of other people happens on a pretty regular basis.

For some bizarre reason some people think others are evil enough to execute vile plans to kill lots of innocents for political gain, while thinking others cannot be evil enough to just do it without provocation (while the former group just plans on leveraging such an eventuality).

Which leaves around half of the NY land mass voting

Land masses don't vote. NY sucks because of new Yorkers; not only does the majority of the population want to be slaves, but they want the rest of the country enslaved too. The heart of darkness is NYC Even when I lived there the attitude of most of the people I worked with and knew was insufferably smug and self absorbed, and above all liberal. Mention guns and it was if you wanted to discuss incest.

Does your neighbor have a gun you think is illegal? Report it to DHS at 1-800-YOU-FINK, and you will be eligible for a 3 month extension in your unemployment insurance, or additional allotments for your EBT card!!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Entirely fictional.
But not for long.

They are about to try this in New Mexico (caps are from the legislative format to describe the title):

AN ACT RELATING TO FIREARMS; CREATING THE FIREARM TRANSFER ACT; PROHIBITING CERTAIN PERSONS FROM PURCHASING OR RECEIVING FIREARMS; REQUIRING BACKGROUND CHECKS BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY PRIOR TO THE TRANSFER OF FIREARMS BY PERSONS OTHER THAN LICENSED GUN DEALERS; ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES FOR THE CONDUCT OF BACKGROUND CHECKS; ADDRESSING PRIVATE TRANSFERS AND TRANSFERS AT GUN SHOWS; CREATING IMMUNITY FROM CIVIL LIABILITY; PROVIDING EXCLUSIONS FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE FIREARM TRANSFER ACT; PROVIDING FOR RULEMAKING; ALLOWING ASSESSMENT OF AN ADMINISTRATIVE FEE; CREATING CRIMES AND IMPOSING CRIMINAL PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF PROVISIONS OF THE FIREARM TRANSFER ACT; CREATING THE FIREARM TRANSFER FUND; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION
But the results will NOT be the same as in NY, at least this time with a law and order, CCW governor. But if we get another Richardson Dem in 2014, they may well succeed.

Of course, I’ll have to tell everyone that Mrs. panax is my first cousin or half-sister in order to fit in the community.

Logic is apparently another thing that New Yorkers don't understand along with the meaning of the word "majority":

  1. Major premise: To vote for 0bama you must be stupid
  2. Minor premise: The MAJORITY of new yorkers voted for 0bama.
  3. Conclusion: the majority of New Yorkers are stupid
I realize that you being from NY probably don't understand a big word like premise, but let me know and I'll explain it to you

I am from PA as well. When I first read the article, I was thinking the same thing. I am willing to go to Elmira, Binghamton, Olean, Oswego, or Watertown and wait for the liberals to show up. But there has to be massive organization to move on the strong holds of liberals, e.g, NYC.

People in NYC can rot in hell, just like the people in Philadelphia.

You’re presuming the majority of New York City’s residents know how to read.
And read English? No. I don’t think the majority does.

NYC has already used legal gun registrations to take away guns from owners.

How long ago was that aussie report reefdiver? i seem toremember it. Then heard about the insane abount of B&E’s, armed robberies, vandalism and worse.
I started looking for statistics in another debate not long ago and it seems google yahoo, Bing, where ever has managed to either clean the machines or live is beautiful down under and yet, and yet I still have HEARD B&E’s and such are up over 200% but cannot find facts that point to such words I’ve heard.
Any help for facts, real facts will be much appreciated.
Thank you,
In God’s love,

I thought I read somewhere that her husband was high up in bronco’s organization. IF so, that one helluva way to get rid of your alimony and child support payments. Evil.

This is basically how Al Qaeda and the Taliban operates. How many times have we heard of so and so leader being droned (killed) and they are still in operation.

It would be impossible and costly to pursue this strategy all over the US. Plus you would have a lot of insiders helping.

Only an observation...but over the last decade...you have various county, state, and federal cops who make the comment that they will enforce law X, but not law Y and Z. So the paper that the laws have been written on...is worthless, and the time invested in writing them...flushed down the toilet.

It was only a matter of time before the same practice....came upon citizens of the country....obeying law X, and but not law Y and Z.

Tens of thousands of laws for you to comply with...and like some menu....you pick and chose what you might agree with. That’s not a common sense approach to life or running a country. Luckily, I’m not in Alabama and attempting to impersonate a member of the clergy (yeah, that’s a state law with jail time, if you didn’t know).

“NYC does NOT represent the balance of the state. In fact, I’ll bet hard money that there are more guns in upstate NY than the entire state of GA.”

Well darlin’, if all y’all have so many good honest free citizens on the right side of the constitution, way up north in NY, go ahead and stand your ground there.

But I won’t be taking that bet:
1. because NY, and thereabouts, does still have a few gun factories.(but not for much longer)
2.Bragging about who has the most of whatever someone else wants to steal, is both rude, and not a bright idea in public.
