By Mrs. FEINSTEIN (for herself, Mr. SCHUMER, Mr. DURBIN, Mr. WHITEHOUSE, Mr. BLUMENTHAL, Mr. LEVIN, Mr. ROCKEFELLER, Ms. MIKULSKI, Mrs. BOXER, Mr. REED, Mr. LAUTENBERG, Mr. MENENDEZ, Mr. CARDIN, Mrs. GILLIBRAND, Mr. SCHATZ, Mr. MURPHY, Ms. WARREN, and Mr. CARPER):

   S. 150. A bill to regulate assault weapons, to ensure that the right to keep and bear arms is not unlimited, and for other purposes; to the Committee on the Judiciary.

   Mrs. FEINSTEIN. Mr. President, I rise today to introduce the Assault Weapons Ban of 2013. This legislation is urgently needed to help end the mass shootings that have devastated countless families and that lead too many Americans to live their lives in fear.

   But we need to ask ourselves:

   Do we let the gun industry take over and dictate policy to this country? Do we let those who profit from increasing sales of these military style-weapons prevent us from taking commonsense steps to stop the carnage?

   Or should we empower our elected representatives to vote their conscience based on their experience, based on their sense of right and wrong and based on their need to protect their schools, their malls, their workplaces and their businesses?

   This legislation is my life's goal. As long as I am a member of the Senate, I will work night and day to pass this bill into law. No matter how long it takes, I will fight until assault weapons are taken off our streets.

   Put simply, we cannot allow the rights of a few to override the safety of all. That is not the America that our founding fathers envisioned. And that is not the America I want my children and grandchildren to live in.

   So I ask everyone watching at home: please get involved and stay involved.

   The success or failure of this bill depends not on me, but on you. If the American people rise up and demand action from their elected officials, we will be victorious. If the American people say ``no'' to military-style assault weapons, we will rid our Nation of this scourge.

   Please, talk to your senator and your member of Congress.

Ms. Feinstein does not understand the Constitution or the English language. The Bill of Rights, including the second amendment, applies to all citizens, not “a few”. Infringing on any amendment infringes on the rights of all citizens, not “a few”.

Which should have embarrassed the h3ll out of those supporter names associated on her list, and Obama too, if he agrees with Ms. Feinstein’s reading of ‘rights of a few’.

I listened to Feinsteins’s interview in the 60 minutes segment from 1999 where she said this:

- “there is a very potent part of this legislation and it is the ban on the manufacture and sale of clips with more than 10 bullets.”

Didn’t the shooter in Newtown use 10 bullet magazines? So now the NEW “potent” designation will be a limit of 6 or 7 rounds or whatever they determine?

Line upon line. Precept upon precept. Here a little there a little. All of a sudden our rights and liberties will be eliminated. We will wonder when exactly that moment happened. But it happens over time.

Classic propaganda! Accept her premiss and the rest follows...

Where did Ms Feinswine discover "a few" with these "dangerous rights". The Constitution attributes the right to bear arms to all citizens of the Republic. The Declaration of Independence asserts "that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." In other words, God granted rights to all and Governments may not limit or rescind them.

Let's examine the balance of her thesis Ie: that allowing the rights of the few to prevail will endanger the safety of all (including the few?) Is there any proof that passing her bill will guarantee anyones safety? To the contrary, there is ten years worth of statistical proof that limiting magazine capacity and removing "assault weapons" from the marketplace has absolutely no effect on crime rates.

I think it safe to say that if this bill should pass with no other changes the only group to be "safer" will be the group of psychotic killers waiting in the wings for a chance at their 15 minutes.
