Dear Secretary Powell:
I understand you were a guest on one of the Sunday chat shows and listed a few things that Republicans have said that indicate that they harbor underlying racism. I believe you called it a dark vein of intolerance. Your examples were:
1) Shuckin and jivin
2) Lazy, accompanied by the unspoken but certainly implied shiftless, not to even mention that reallllly unspoken third word.
I confess that those dog whistles are much too high for my ears, but that could be because Im in my 60s. I would never have dreamed that using those terms regarding blacks (oops!) African-Americans were verboten (uh-oh! German word! Its okay, though, because I have German blood. Whew!).
Im curious if you considered The Osmonds racist when they recorded Shuckin and Jivin? If so, did you call them on it? May I assume that you publicly took Andrew Cuomo to task for exhibiting that dark vein of intolerance when he used shuck and jive against Obama in his support for Hillary Clinton during the 2008 primary season?
I was told recently that I couldnt use uppity when speaking of an African-American. I do apologize for not knowing that rule. I have used that term when describing many individuals who exhibited uppity behavior, but I didnt understand that African-Americans were exempt from its use. Is it possible you could send me the list of terms that one should never use in conjunction with African-Americans lest they be perceived as exhibiting a dark vein of intolerance? Please include the terms that were not spoken but that African-Americans will hear when a white person speaks (see example #2 above). I will print it out and keep it with me at all times so as not to make an inexcusable faux pas (yikes! French origin. I repent as I do not have any French blood.)
Also, is there a statute of limitation for coddling your race, or can we expect that the list of terms Ive requested from you has an infinite shelf life?
I cant help wondering if youve ever considered using your influence to reach out even further to prevent blacks, I mean African-Americans from being offended. You could initiate a move to have the word niggardly stricken from English dictionaries as a legitimate word. Renege is another one that could possibly offend and should probably be stricken. Surely someone in Congress, e.g., Sheila Jackson Lee, could help you get that ball rolling through legislation.
One more thing I need you to clarify, Mr. Secretary: Several years back I incorporated diss into my vocabulary. I realize it has its roots in black culture, but I like the term and have found it to be a succinct word to express my thoughts at times. Do I need special dispensation from an American of African descent to use this term (and other terms that have their origins in black culture)? If I use these terms, am I in danger of being perceived as racist? If so, is there an avenue of absolution I can take to repair my reputation?
Finally, Secretary Powell, please explain why you are a Republican. If you consider McCain and Romney to be a significant shift to the right, how could you have managed to bring yourself to vote for Ronald Reagan twice? Im sorry, Mr. Secretary, but your convictions seem to be squishy, and your logic shifts to accommodate the argument of the moment. For that reason, I cannot respect you as a Republican. Please do the principled thing and join the Democrat Party. Thank you for your service to our country.
Sincerely yours,
A Conservative American
Powell should take a lesson from General Norman Schwarzkopf (a real general not affirmative action general), just be quiet and enjoy your retirement.
?
Well done.
It’s not my intention to change him. My motive is to expose the absurdity of his remarks. As someone mentioned earlier, he should have taken a cue from Schwarzkopf.
No, but my keyboard does, and you would have known that if you'd seen my post on the other thread (which has been pulled at my request).
A very reasonable screed to the general..
If you think he cares what you think you’re delusional..
Which is most republicans problem.. being delusional..
Nov 6th proved voting in federal elections are corrupt..
and probably have been corrupt for a few cycles now..
meaning....... it’s NOT NEW..
Nov 6th also thru suspicion on many State and Local elections as well..
Many of them are probably very corrupt too..
Chicago and New York City surely are..
Republicans waiting for 2014 and 2016 to make things right are eye rolling droolers..
and probably will never learn..
Colon Bowel is an apparatchik (a made mafioso) in the most successful con game ever played on the America people..
AND it’s working.. Cowards pen shameful jibes that fix nothing..
Calling Bullies names does not harm them a bit.. nor does “snark”..
Bullies need an attitude adjustment.. not words.. i.e. snide comments..
NOBODY in the White House and probably all of Washington D.C. are honest players..
Appealing to their best side is quite Stupid..
Colin Powell needs to reflect on his dark soul
as to why his aide(Richard Armitage) outed
Valerie Plame but did not defend Scooter Libby's innocence.
See post #7.
Dear Conservative American,
Are you white? Then you’re racist. Everything you think, do, and say is racist. You can never cower or grovel enough. You can never give or sacrifice enough. You must feel guilty forevermore.
Hope this clears things up.
Colon Powell
I agree - Stormin’ Norman was able to just stick to his job as a General; great guy from NJ.
Update: Alas, poor Colin can’t “be quiet”, he’s employed by the globalists now. Apparently the chip in his neck has been installed and booted up.
Card-carrying member of Council on Foreign Relations.
He’s right there with all the other members who serve for decades, as Presidents come and go and Senators snooze away.
Did you know they actually wrote a book before Obama was elected which laid out the “agenda for the next President” ? Whether it was Romney or Obama or Bugs Bunny, U.S. foreign policy would have been calmly “asserted” to him. If a President were to actually defy the accepted thinking of CFR, hmmm, interesting question. CFR is a global organization, arguably with better global contacts than any particular administration. Of course, it’s heavily laden with U.S. influence, but one has to wonder, who is really influencing whom ?
Madeleine Albright has been at the CFR since the 1970s, when she “assisted” with foreign policy for the peanut man under her then boss, the seemingly ever-present Zbigniew.
CFR has about 4,700 members - who are admitted only at the invitation of CFR.
How’s that for “representative government” ?
COLON PILE (Spelling intentional) isn’t African. His folks immigrated here from the island of Jamaica.
Powell has trashed his oath, and trashed his honor...:
“I, _____, having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God.”
The first thing I thought when I heard Colon was that the REMF affirmative action General was out there shuckin and jivin in his suckup to the liberals mode. They could put his face on that jackass that they use for a mascot.
To which I add:
Were it not for the efforts of Republicans like Lincoln, Eisenhower, Dirkssen et. al., you would never have been on Meet the Press or any other TV news program. Gratitude is certainly one virtue you never learned. Just goes to show you that some people can never change what they are.
Wasn’t that the most incredible spectacle?! My big question was (and still is) “WHERE IS THE MEDIA????”
