Is Obama Setting the Stage to Seize the Power of the Purse?
White House Dossier ^ | January 11, 2013, 6:07 pm | Keith Koffler

Posted on 01/11/2013 8:29:38 PM PST by Hoodat

The White House may craftily be laying the groundwork for a massive and thoroughly unconstitutional seizure of power from Congress.

Republicans are threatening not to raise the debt ceiling limit unless President Obama agrees to significant cuts in spending. And so, a move is increasingly afoot to have Obama raise it himself. It’s hard to imagine that the growing clamor doesn’t have the approval of the White House. And it’s hard to imagine a more egregious abuse of power.

There are few Constitutional principles more clear than that Congress is in charge of allotting the nation’s cash. . .

What recourse do we as citizens have if Obama, Geithner, and Bernanke do this? When this happens, our Republic will officially be dead.

With his prolific use of the Executive Order to bypass the constitution he already has control of the American Purse and everything else. The only thing that prevents his total control of the US Government is, well, nothing.

What recourse?

As far as I can tell, the historical and customary response to tyranny is about to activate.

The SOB is saying to WE THE PEOPLE “so whaddya gonna do ‘bout it McFly?”

The b-stard wants a fight. He wants the riots, the chaos, the burning cities, the death, and the destruction.

He wants to declare absolute power to his government.

He is the enemy within, and no one is going to do a damn thing to stop him.

Well said, Eagle.

The usurper has gotten away with crimes and misdemeanors by the score and nobody reprimanded him in any meaningful way. Whatever protests we raise are ignored by the media, so the public never hears the incitements they need to hear.

The Republicans in the House won’t vote to impeach because they know the Senate won’t vote to convict. I say impeach him anyway, just to make a statement.

The Supreme Court? Ha! Unless Roberts “gets religion” there won’t be any help from that quarter.

Barring a military coup — more unlikely by the day with upper echelons being purged — it may indeed be up to us to right this wrong.

He is the enemy within, but without the backing of the Democrat party and their media, he would be nothing but a swaggering Chicago street agitator and Illinois state senator. He has a lot of support and protection from institutions that would normally purge such a person from even being nominated to be president.
It is apparent that no one with any power is going to stop him or even challenge him on his power grabs. It will be up to us to stop him

We have a huge challenge ahead.
We will have to trust in God and trust in our fellow Americans to set this country right again. It might take years or decades, but the process needs to begin now.

RE “What recourse do we as citizens have if Obama, Geithner, and Bernanke do this? When this happens, our Republic will officially be dead”

I am not going make believe I know exactly what O is up to, short that he will probably whip the GOP again at this as he has always has been many steps ahead of them.

But the spending comes from congress in the CRs, at least much of it. They cant force O to sign a spending bill but he cant technically force them to pass the CR he wants either and he cant spend money that is not in law.

They could try using the debt limit arguments that Dems make as an argument why the CR cannot just be extended as is.

If our elected officials are NOT willing to do the job they were hired to do, by standing up to this narcisist, and warnign him he had better NOT attempt anty such move or he will face immediate imperachement proceedures, then this country is hopelessly lost- never to recover- because we will NOT have folsk hired to position of power thgat are willing to serve we the peopel any longer-

The same Americans that voted him in for a second term hopign to get their $200 a year ‘stimulus check’ and various myriad of ‘freebies’ fro mthe government? Trust them?

A reporter asked a colored woman why she voted for him, and her rsponse was “because, I wanna get me soem of that obama money’- and hwen asked where she thought that money came from, her response was’ it’s free’

That is the America we now live in- they want ‘their slice of the pie NOW! damnit! and to hell with anyoen else or future generations- they want that ‘free obarma money’ before it all runs out-

Every tyrannical government through all history ends in bloodshed, either external war and defeat, or internal insurrection and regime change in response to loss of freedom. It will happen here, count on it, it appears measures are underway.

The Senate, House, Congress in general, press, Supreme Court, even military, are no longer relevant to the certain outcome. The instruments of government are impotent.

The People, We the People, will restore the free republic, by force as may be recessary.

Oh hmmm, I do believe I missed that particular “I hope” as I am not familiar with it off hand.

Just looking at the context of the words, I believe that they allude to what I have feared for sometime and that is that it is going to be very difficult indeed to scrape this mess from the shoes of America. It is not a mess that is simply going to fade from sight after the passage four years.

It may require new shoes...and new feet :(

I think “We the People” of this country are at the trigger point and any unconstitutional move by Obama to either create a gun grab or to bypass Congress on the debt limit will set off the shot heard ‘round the world. People are at their wits end and I don’t think they are going to stand for more abuse. I think they will rebel. I’m not sure what form it will take, i.e. civil war, state cessation, tax revolt or all of these but I can feel it and it’s scary. What we are experiencing now is exactly what prompted people to come to America and to cast off the vile oppressive government they had been under. Sadly it’s happened again and we have no choice but to fight back and reclaim what our constitution intended for us, freedom from tyrannical government and God given inalienable rights. The only question remaining is when does it begin.

The recourse is pitchforks in Washington DC. Millions of them.
But it seems we all don't have the wear-with-all to get off the computers, take a day or two off work and show up. I've asked this of freepers before and you wouldn't believe the reasons why someone couldn't go.
I've been twice and lost money for not working, spent money I didn't have for rooms, food, and transportation there.Too far you say? We had people fly, take buses, walk, and bring their wheelchairs.
Ain't gonna happen cause y'all don't wanna give up a few of your pleasures.
and the biggest reason will be,,,, ta da,,,,No one listens to us.
They would have to listen if we shut down America.

I’m right with you.
We have to have faith that someday enough fellow Americans will just say “enough of this foolishness” and set things straight.
When that will happen? It sure won’t happen in the next 4 years. We are in for some real dark times and rough sledding I think for the next 10 years. It may be the current teenagers who right the ship, or it might be the case that in 2016 America will be sufficiently pissed off to get out the vote to oust democrats from top to bottom.
But the realitiy is that here we are in a crappy situation. That is our here and now. We have to live our lives and work to bring our country back no matter how long that will take.

Our recourse is to stop paying taxes all together.

It will be time for every paycheck receiving citizen to practice a bit of civil disobedience and change their W-4 so they get all their money in their check.

Or if an employer has the courage, to do the deductions but hold the funds in escrow until such time as we re-establish a legit form of government.

The other option is to for all producers to go on strike. Business to shut their doors. But, I think that is too far a reach for our producers.

A tax strike is much more achievable.

Actually, I should amend that to we voluntarily use only cash that predates 2013, we refuse all cash dated 2013 and after.

Furthermore, we have a central clearing organization like paypal that will do digital money transfers but only to and from accounts that have been certified balances as of 2013 and only those balances will be recognized as valid.

What we will need to do is refuse to accept post 2013 newly issued money by the govt.

The govt. can print all it likes, if we refuse to honor it what are they going to do ?

And actually, this is exactly what happens in a classic currency collapse, the public refuses to deal in it or trade in it. They will barter, use gold or a stable foreign currency.

The only difference this time is that we will be refusing only newly minted money instead of all money.

In my opinion, the scariest thing Obama has ever done is sign an order giving himself secret service protection for life. That tells me a whole lot right there. He has plans and they aren’t going to be good for this country and he’s getting bolder by the day about airing them because it is clear to one and all, and accepted by the left, that the media will not challenge him but instead, excuse him and give him cover. The world won’t get the truth from the U.S. media, so we have already sunk to that level. It is about to get “every man for himself” serious.

The fallacy in your argument is that there is no difference between the bills. The paper currency is but a stand in for electronic blips on a digital ledger. There is no difference between one blip and another.

All money is actually ledger entries, zaps on an electronic storage medium. The plastic of a credit card, or debit card or EBT card more nearly represents true money because it is direct. The plastic directly accesses the ledger.

The paper currency is several steps away from the ledger. For most people today, there is no need for actual paper money. Some form of plastic is easier and cleaner and more expedient than paper or intrinsically valueless metal coins.

“and the biggest reason will be,,,, ta da,,,,No one listens to us.”

That’s the media causing some of this. They downplay ANY show of disagreement, perpetuate lies and then feed off each other’s lies and months later claim they “made a mistake” in the wording. The down play any opposition to the King and kiss his ass unapologetically and loudly. They have no shame in doing so. The King knows it and they know it and the rest of us don’t matter. The media is who gets people elected and the abuse of media power rises above what King Obama has done. To me, that’s where the biggest share of the blame should fall. I love hearing that the NYT is laying off MORE people and we all know the reason they give, it’s the same exact reason for the last 10 layoffs, less advertisers in print, yah yah,,not less subscribers, less advertisers. The NYT lies like the rest of the media. Time Mag laying off people,,yessss!!!!! Makes my day.

More than the power of a gun, which we all have every right to, the Citizen Media is going to be who we will need to look at to help us band together. After the gun restrictions/bans are passed, next King Obama will be controlling the internet. Everyone needs to join a local militia or group and start working out communications for that eventuality NOW, not then. Just my opinion. It’s not panic, it’s common sense and clear as a bell observation.
