Last night the Brattleboro City Council voted to ban whatever it labels as an "assault weapon." Film of the meeting shows a lively exchange between outraged citizens and the toffy noses on the council. This despite there being no laws regarding firearms ownership or licensing in the State of Vermont.
"Constitution of the State of Vermont: Article 16th. Right to bear arms; standing armies; military power subordinate to civil
"That the people have a right to bear arms for the defence of themselves and the State - and as standing armies in time of peace are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be kept up; and that the military should be kept under strict subordination to and governed by the civil power."
We are in a dark age. Obama and his friends need this to do what they want to do. From what we’ve already seen in the last four years it will be a helluva fight.
Remember when Healthcare failed that first time and the Dems declared that it was dead and that they would move on to something else? Then, a shot time later, they passed it at midnight.
Time to get that phone ringing and that pen out.
You've been warned Republicans. This is the line and you better hold it.
ask around if you doubt our resolve.
In Georgia, a county, city, town etc. cannot make a law more restrictive than state law for weapons. There is a specific law for that.
CNN and Yahoo news are all assault weapons and gun control all the time. They even rolled Gabby Giffords out to use as a prop. The push is on like I have never seen before. I will bet you that there will be another mass shooting in the next 3 to 6 months. Mark my word!!!
They are not “going to try” to take our guns away- they ARE DOING IT~!
This are all pre-planned steps.
Their process has begun.
Kinda hard to carry concealed weapon when naked.
Folks, calm down. This is Brattleboro, Vt. There is no place in America that is less American.
Oddly, most Vermonters are very pro-gun. some of my inlaws are far to the left, but most of them have guns, and use them. The leftest one of the bunch sat on his porch a couple of summers ago and shot about 15 chipmunks and squirrels a couple of summers ago, because they were robbing his bird feeder.
There were also a pair of beavers and a bunch of young beavers in the pond behind his house. They were ringing the neighborhood trees. Then they disappeared. Convenient. I suspect that he and his guns had something to do with it, but I didn’t ask.
The problem with these local town governments in Vermont is that the most capable folks don’t really want the job, so often the flakes end up on the select boards. Hopefully, this stupidity in Brattleboro will not stand.
With the possible exception of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, District of Corruption.
It’s not odd. As most lefties aren’t anti-gun, rather they are against those who would oppose them politically from owning guns.
Consider it this way. On your in-law’s Animal Farm, the birds are their proletariate supporters and the chipmunks and squirrels —for whom there was no hesitation to eliminate— the rest of us.
As for Brattleboro, someone with standing and deep pockets and/or pro bono representation needs to sue.
The main reason is not because they think they can get legislation through but because they are trying to get away from economic news.
The gun headlines keep their base happy; the lack of economic news protects Dear Leader.
The most liberal city in the most liberal county in the most liberal state in the union and I just happen to live next door, and I have the tax bill to prove it.
except Putney, VT
