Who knew that the Second Amendment was so specific on what arms the people could and could not bear?
They’re only assault weapons in the hands of tyrannical governments and criminals. For law abiding citizens, they’re defense weapons. Damnit!
This shall not pass!
“Its right there by muskets” to quote a smart lady

Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:
Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
120 specifically-named firearms
Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic
Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds
Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test
Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test
Banning firearms with thumbhole stocks and bullet buttons to address attempts to work around prior bans
Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment
Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes and
Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons
Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
Background check of owner and any transferee;
Type and serial number of the firearm;
Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration
A pdf of the bill summary is available here.
This has little chance of passing, but would be a nightmare if it did. It would certainly make more criminals, which may be the real intent.
Don’t be naive, and don’t argue with a fool in her folly. She doesn’t believe this will do anything but weaken the ability to resist government tyrany, and that’s the real goal.
People, we need to get over the “kook factor”, that of being called kooks because we call the left on their actual goals instead of arguing against/with their “front” argument.
Do not answer a fool in his folly, or you will be like him.
Answer a fool in his folly, so that he won’t be wise in his own eyes.
IE, CALL THEM ON IT.
so black in color would be one, right?
I’d rather stop the spread of Senator ‘I’ve worked hard for that title’ Dianne Feinstein.
One would think that modern medicine could prevent such monstrosities.
The “mood” of half the country is such that we’re “on the edge”. It’s a powder keg.
Folks aren’t buying record amounts of hardware so they can sheepishly turn them over when the govthugs “ask” them to.
This is confiscation and a declaration of war.

Second Amendment was so specific?
To those that think that we should only have weapons used when the second amendment was written please inform me of your wishes in the mode of the first amendment,
THE QUILL PEN!
THIS "WILL" GET UGLY........Texas will not submit...period.
California: Land of fruits and nuts.

How generous.
I guess that the photo and finger prints are for easier identification after the ATF does one of it’s famous no knock raid and kills everything alive in your house. Ooooops wrong address, our bad.
Actually, the other moron California senator, Barbara Boxer, said that.
Well, not actually turn them over. They would put in place a “buy-back”(?) whereby they would give you a wallyworld voucher or a bag of groceries or a gift card, making it well worth the thousands you spent in the first place. Of course you didn’t buy from them so I’m still kinda wondering about the “hole” buy-back thing. (Maybe john kerry will apologize for us being to stupid to understand what they meant.) Send df an email by using a zip code from her area and it will go through. Not that she would pay any attention to it. The gun show in Reno this past weekend (12/22-23) was jam packed with folks. Law abiding folks!
Helping keep mankind warm for 65 years.
“This has little chance of passing...”
Agreed.
It won’t get past the Senate (45R to 55D), let alone the House.
What it IS, is the first salvo to drum up public interest.
However, the machinations over the ‘fiscal cliff’ and resultant outcome (majority of middle class families will be $200-400+ poorer each month), will push this issue to the back-burner.
Good question, it wouldn't surprise me if it was though.
contacted my congresscritter (young) ... they couldn’t care less
NFA kind of reminds me of two genius plans hatched by liberal idiots, the California SKS confiscation (fail) and the Canadian long gun registration (fail and if my memory serves me correctly the Indian tribes paid no attention to this nonsense and then this spread to the other serfs)
As for the NFA and select fire I’m pretty sure that the ATF has a hard time keeping up with deaths of holders, imagine keeping up with millions of dying “naughty gun” holders. Reminds me of a story told to me, a nice old lady shows up at a gun shop with an MP-40, a real one. Well it seems her deceased husband never bothered to transfer it and so in the end the machine gun went to a museum.
Chicago the Daley crooks hatched a plan to go after lapsed FOID card holders so the gun squad picked a white ethnic name out of the hat (very political) and raided an 80 year old man’s house. That nonsense lasted exactly once.
The only NFA gun I want and will pay the tithe for now is the SAW. So my counter offer to Feinswine no NFA for semis and you open up the select fire registration. (think of the tax revenue)
This is the nail in the coffin.

I’m confused. Won’t the same bill need to go through the House before it can be signed into law by the president?
How can this bill be passed without going through the, GOP controlled, House?
Thank you for the correction.
But in my defense, it’s hard to categorize and organize truly stupid remarks, and all libtards look alike to me.
Yeah its hopeless now go hide under your bed, and take as many of the paycheck conservatives with you.
There is more concentrated evil in the Senate than in any number of school shootings, combined.
If this actually passes, good luck trying to enforce it.
I don’t recall getting fingerprinted when I purchased my firearms.
Maybe I did get fingerprinted, but I don’t recall it.
A little too much big brother if you ask me.
“Senator Ive worked hard for that title “
I think you mean Boxer, when demanding the Senator title instead of Ma’am from a Military officer at a senate hearing. (And he continued with Ma’am).
But I can understand how you could confuse the two.
“Aw crap”, Ping...
Maybe I’m wrong, but it seems to me it was written like this to make sure it fails. There is no way in hell a bill like this would ever pass and she knows it. My guess is they really don’t have the political capitol to spend on gun control right now and this is their way of just shutting up the antagonists... who knows
“This is confiscation and a declaration of war.”
Said better than I could have said it.
Not to mention completely unconstitutional.
I remember back in the in California you had to show ID and give a finger print just to buy ammo.
Been here in Vegas for about 12 years now and there is none of that commie crap here.
Don't miss Cali at all.
Feinstein is seriously pushing for a Lexington & Concord moment.
I remember back in the early 80's in California you had to show ID and give a finger print just to buy ammo
This ought to be in breaking...
This a standard Dem ploy. Demand everything and “compromise” on half of what they demand. Then come back for the rest later.
The tyrant will have the organizational advantage. Once the guns have been registered, they will be able to deploy overwhelming force to reduce centers of resistance one-by-one. Resistance will be futile (to quote a fictional tyranny) for any armed individual opposed to the New Order.
This is the same method the Nazi’s used, of course. Registration first - but you may keep your guns. Confiscation second - now that we know what you have, you have no choice except to hand it over.
Thanks to indoctrination in government schools we have whole generations who think the second amendment is to protect our rights to hunt squirrels instead of government tyrants.
I thought the same. “Oh look, it’s black and has a sight on it. Two military characteristics. BAN IT!”
Correction accepted.
Please see my explanation @ #30.
You're getting your idiot liberal California senators mixed up.
But I agree, this turkey-necked octogenarian needs to be stopped.
I believe you have the two moronic California senators mixed up (easy to do).
It was Barbara (dumb as a box of hammers) Boxer who uttered those immortal words.
