DEVELOPING: Jon Hammar, the U.S. Marine imprisoned in Mexico on a gun charge, will be released today, his mother told Fox News Radio.
Olivia Hammar said the judge hearing Hammar's case issued a ruling in his favor and that her son is to be released at a time on Friday yet to be announced. No more details were available. Hammar, 27, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, has been stuck in a notorious, drug cartel-controlled prison just 15 miles south of the U.S. border since Aug. 13, after he crossed into Mexico and declared an antique shotgun to Mexican customs officials.

Sweet Home Al Obama works in mysterious ways...
Thanks be to God. I hope he was healed of the trauma that the war has brought upon him. God works in mysterious ways.
G-d willing, this is true.
With all due respect to the Marine, I can not even imagine going to mexico and even less so with anything they might consider jailing one for.
There are places you just don’t go unless it is for battle.
Evidently it took over four months for Mexican leadership to scrape together enough functioning brain cells to determine you don’t declare a weapon to authorities, if you have evil plans, or are doing anything other than what you think you are required to do by the letter of the law.
Confiscate the gun. Expel the individual. Hash the ownership out over time. Don’t imprison the guy for four months.
Talk about stupider than a jumping bean...
Hit them in the pocketbook.
Gotta give FoxNews some kudos on this.
They’ve been pushing it hard and I doubt the lefty media would have even glanced at a Marine carrying a weapon into a foreign country—other than maybe applauding his arrest.
Many US citizens are jailed in Mexico every year for firearms violations. The Mexicans will arrest for even minor things like parts to firearms or ammunition, very fanatical. This is well known on the border and the crossing near me has huge signs warning everyone headed to the border. My cousin guided hunters on hunts in Mexico for 40 years, had all the proper paperwork for firearms- was arrested on one trip anyway. My cousin knew some important people in Mexico and was released in 4 days- he decided to never return to Mexico. Having the right paperwork for one group does not mean other officials will recognize it. Mexico really is a third world country.
At the mercy of Mexican authorities there is no common sense to any part of the process.
I’m sure Obama put this off until this weekend.
Awesome! ‘Bout time we put some muscle behind it.... though frankly, avoiding travel to Mexico is just a good idea in general.
Big props to the Congressmen/women (out friend Duncan Hunter among them) who took up the cause. His cause was finally gaining momentum this week.
Oh, thank God! What a relief for him and his family; Great!

I have still not seen Obama’s name associated with this case in any manner.
Tammy, or anyone else, how strict are the gun laws in Mexico for their citizens and how is the enforcment?
Hope this is true.
Praise God if it is! Big answer to prayer.

Payback for Fast & Furious, I would guess. Maybe it was all the talk about Americans boycotting travel to Mexico that brought them to their senses.
Doiint business in Mexico has serious consequences, too. Investing in Mexican property carries unexpcted prices.
Actually, by mentioning that abhorrent occupant of the White House, you just reminded me that I needed to change my tagline.
