Posted on 12/17/2012 8:09:42 PM PST by Tailgunner Joe
After the mass shooting Connecticut today, Rep. Dennis Kucinich reiterated his support for a "Department of Peace."
"It is long past time that we take an organized approach to addressing the violence in our society and that is exactly what the proposal for a cabinet level Department of Peace is all about. We must reject violence and take an organized approach to averting violence," said the congressman in a prepared statement.
Kucinich also said, Todays shooting was a tragedy of unimaginable proportions. Our hearts ache for the victims and their families. While we dont know why this attack took place, it is an attack on education, on public safety and on our children.
"For those of us outside the direct impact of this tragedy, our mourning turns into a search for ways to ensure that these shootings do not continue to happen.
"There is an undercurrent of violence in our society that is becoming more powerful. Whenever it surfaces it brings great tragedy and we pray: never again. But never again keeps happening. Malls, schools, movie theaters; these murders attack our sense of community."
Ah yes, another blotted bureaucracy that will accomplish absolutely nothing except waste taxpayers money.
“Malls, schools, movie theaters”
Hmmmm , I sense a trend.
These people are so stupid I’m amazed they don’t forget how to breathe.

Hey genius, how about throwing out the RoE that’s getting our troops killed overseas?
“Department of Peace.”
To be run mostly by members of the Religion of Peace, to be sure.
Seriously, this is about the most 1984 Newspeak bureaucracy proposal I’ve heard.
As with all things liberal (er, now “progressive”), he who controls the meaning of the words controls the outcome of the discussion. What, exactly is Kucinich’s definition of “peace”?
I suspect that the Prince of Peace is not part of it. But it probably would not conflict with the “religion of peace”.
Here we go MINITRUE, MINIPEACE, MINILOVE. George Orwell was a prophet in the modern world.
Department of Weapon Confiscation, Indoctrination and Submission Compliance
Why doesn’t Kucinich lead by example and open his own department of peace on the south side of Chicago?
The first order of business for the “Department of Peace”, of course, will be the purchase of 4.5 million rounds of hollow point ammunition.
A cabinet level department of peace?
Do these people know how they sound? ROFLOL!
I am so glad I am old, at least I recognize abnormal when I see it.
The only thing Dennis did that I agreed with.
Beat me to it. But it does beg the question, how would the Department of Peace go about enforcing its regulations?
He got his piece.
This is what happens when no one has their boot on that little pr***’s neck...
They say “Peace, peace” when there is no peace.
Surely he is standing on something.
He is so short
When you are toes to toes your nose is in it
When you are nose to nose your toes is in it.
The Dept. of Peace will need to maintain gulags for those who refuse to be peaceful.
George Orwell...CALL YOUR OFFICE!!!!
Winston Smith must speak to you ASAP!
Their motto will be “War is Peace”
This country is ripe for destruction by violent men who will laugh at our metrosexuals before killing them and taking the women.
Your post made me envision the stupid hipsters in my area throwing their man-purses over their shoulders and running for their lives in their capri pants.
I had to laugh.
The BAFTE already snagged "Freedom is Slavery".
Further evidence why the guys with the butterfly nets are probably chasing Dennis at this moment.
And what a thing. Proof I guess that Dennis isn't totally bonkers.
BIG GOVERNMENT IS CRONY SOCIALISM
Socialism Is Legal Plunder - Frederic Bastiat 1801-1850
DEPOPULATE BIG GOVERNMENT socialists/totalitarians from the body politic.
live - free - republic
He has to be standing on a filing cabinet in that photo.
Go back to being war department
Once we have a “ Dept of Peace”....this sort of stuff ...will be chalked up as “good for business”. And will help “ document the need “ for further funding....and that “ more of these tragedies” mean we just haven’t “quite a big enough” budget or enough regulation.......ya know after all.. We ‘ve still got that pesky 2nd Amendment......
The only thing Dennis did that I agreed with.
She carries the little monkey around the house and in public on her back!
