Daily Mail ^ | 12/15/12

Ms Conte called the ordeal 'sad' for Lanza and his family, and suggested that the violence is a portion of a much larger situation.

'Guns are easy to point to, but it's really a mental health issue.'

Sorry I posted a duplicate.

Late night I posted this photo and was asked a couple of times if it is rear. apparently so.

As I posted on another thread, the shooter was described in many articles as a “gamer”.

The GOP is going to have to frame this as a “mental health” and “gamer” issue to fight off gun control.

Is there something common about random mass killers? Something they share?

I guessed it before reading the story, and then yep, there it is, his parents are divorced and the father is out of the home.

No healthy connection with a father. It has destroyed our inner cities, and now it is in the burbs.

But we’ll look past that and blame the guns.

Blame mental illness. Do we want crazy people to own guns?

He had to be medicated to control his moods.

A lot of these medications are dangerous and the people who are on them go nuts when they fail to take them . I know a family who put their teenage daughter on some of these pills because she was a spoiled brat prone to outburst . She ended up stealing her father's gun and shooting herself , she almost killed both her parents.

Nancy Lanza legally owned a Sig Sauer and a Glock, both handguns of models commonly used by police, and a military-style Bushmaster .223 M4 carbine, according to law enforcement officials who also believe Adam Lanza used at least some of those weapons.

Nancy Lanza was an avid gun collector who once showed him a “really nice, high-end rifle” that she had purchased, said Dan Holmes, owner of a landscaping business who recently decorated her yard with Christmas garlands and lights. “She said she would often go target shooting with her kids.”

Your graphic blaming Hollywood and modern entertainment has one flaw. The gang wars of the 30s, Hitler, Stalin, lynching, slavery, the slaughter of American Indians all happened before this. None of them learned it by playing violent video games.

There have always been murders and slaughters, only the methods and maybe the scenarios have changed.

Why can’t we blame Tanantino and “Banjo Unchained”?

I think we are going to have to hold people accountable if they don’t secure their guns from being stolen and used for these purposes.

Let’s keep guns out of the hands of crazies.

Can’t blame her for collecting guns but perhaps when you have a crazy kid...you shouldn’t put a gun in their hands....just a thought.

Blame anyone you like.

But at some point we have to say that flat out crazy people can’t own guns, IMO.

Crazy people don’t have a second amendment? Who determines who is crazy and who is not? Which mental illnesses would qualify? Depression? Anxiety? Anger issues? Bipolar disorders? autism?

There have always been murders and slaughters, only the methods and maybe the scenarios have changed.

That should be the headline on every newspaper in the nation.

Murders are a fact of life, there are two restraints: self-defense and the rule of law.

Again, they are a fact of life, they can not be eliminated. Anyone is suggests they are seeking a way to eliminate them is either misguided or trying to deceive.

There is no way to predict who will commit crimes and prevent them from comitting the crimes.

Crime needs to be punished according to the rule of law.

Evil politicians are using this tragedy to further their own goal of disarming the American public, which is impossible.

Gun owners need to own guns responsibly. That means locking them up or rendering them unusable.

The GOP is going to have to stave off gun control. I’m willing to consent to fines and imprisonment for parents [and others] who do not lock their guns to prevent someone else going postal.

Think of the many toddlers who get daddy’s gun ... I say lock him up!
