American health care consumers arent the only ones who will be hit by slated Obamacare tax hikes. Medical bills for their pets may go up as well.
According to a rule published Friday by the Internal Revenue Service, some medical devices used in veterinary practices will be hit by Obamacares 2.3 percent device tax. Many of their manufacturers are expected to hike prices, meaning higher veterinary costs for the nations pet owners.
The tax will not hit devices that are used exclusively for veterinary purposes. But a host of such devices are manufactured for use in both human health care and veterinary practices. Those devices manufacturers will have to pay the tax.

I LOVE that pooch!
I didn't realize their definition of medical "device" was so broad. Good grief. It appears they will apply this tax to medical supplies.
Just because the pos, poseur pres likes to eat dogs, it doesn’t mean he has to tax them, too. Haven’t they suffered enough being chewed between his fat lips?
They might as well just say it...everything that your veterinarian uses is a "dual use" medical device.
Muslims do not like dogs. Think they are unclean.
Sooooo, the non-sterile catheters will not be affected?
Outrageous!
That’s basically how people doctors have long since become, though - “you need to sign up for introductory physical” kind of garbage.
Well it's only fair to redistribute some of those to the dogs.
Oh Crap. And here I was planning to get MY medical services from my veterinarian and Obama has now bolloxed that up too?
ARF ! ARF!
I wonder if Obama Portuguese Water Dog “Bo” is covered by the Federal Health Plan for humans? I rename him Bo-tox.’He has better health care than most of America and no death panel to boot!
I will bet you that the veterinarian association in Oregon is the source of that kind of a bill. They are pushing to force pet owners to have their cat/dog/hamster/snake ‘get a check up at least ONCE a year, and I remember seeing ads here in the Reno area where they were pushing for 2 checkups a year. “Teeth cleanings are only $150 for your dog or cat”. Such guilt trips are ridiculous. Such checkups can cost more than the last full physical I got in the early 80’s.
When will this same rule start to apply to Obamacare? IF you don’t get a full checkup every 12 months, you won’t get any care when you need it.
I am basically a healthy person. I don’t get full checkups because I really don’t need them. It is a waste of time for the doctor and money for me. That doctor needs to spend his/her time with people who really need them.
I’m gonna try my best to feed my cats as well as I can. Good dry and canned food (Evo, Evanger’s, Fussie Cat, etc.); also cooked meat leftovers, maybe homemade reaw food in the future. One thing they like is when I roast a chicken, strip the meat off the carcass, cut it into chunks and mix with canned tuna. I also sometimes cook chunks of fresh frozen salmon, and they love it after being deboned. I figure that feeding them well will save money in the long term.
