I hope he has to pay for the resources he wasted. Of course, it is also likely he will apply for service connected disability (service-induced "depression") and feed off the godfearing taxpayer the rest of his life. This story is just beginning.

Is he another Sandra Fluke activist liberal who targeted an institution to rampage against religious beliefs?

“Blake Page announced his decision to quit the U.S. Military Academy this week, telling The Associated Press that he could not become an officer because of clinical depression ...”

Looks like he wasn’t going to be commissioned anyway.

I’ve been out for a while and the rules may likely have changed, but when I was at USNA if you quit after the first class bell rang in your Junior year, you immediately became an enlisted person with a 4 year obligation. More recently, I’ve seen some stories of quitters getting out by repaying the estimated cost of their education.

Not Military material anyway! Religion is a personal belief
Combat is not! I would not want to put my life in his hands and all Service personell do at some point! It must be nice to have the ability to throw a career away on a whim! Daddy can buy a new one!

pretty smart young man - Uncle Sam pays for all but one semester of education - he quits - goes to another school and gets his degree. Uncle Sam gets nothing!

25 years ago I knew of a young man who attended the rigorous USN nuclear training school, several years in length and in Connecticut (I think) - graduated - reported to his first assignment and then claimed to be a conscientious objector and eventually became a college professor in Chicago. Uncle Sam paid for the best part of his education for nothing.

Only in America

Guess it never occurred to him that people may have discriminated against him because he is unpleasant and impolite.

I have heard the story and I read it yesterday. But my short term memory is shot. I think he just found out there was a medical change that disqualified him to get his commission.

That said, since it was not his decision (to be denied his commission) they were going to allow him to graduate with his class.

Boy, looking back, that would have been sweet. But now that I am paying his bill....I say let him transfer his credits and spend another two years getting a degree. (Those English 101 credits are a bitch to transfer!!!)

What a dumb ass! He could have graduated, requested assignment to Afghanistan, and killed lots and lots of hard core religious fanatics. It might have relieved that depression a lot!

So the theory is that those who follow the religion of atheism can somehow trump and suppress the religious views of Christians, as of course, these complaints are not aimed at the Pagan society, etc. So his goal is to never face any challenge to his own religious beliefs. Seems like the simple solution is go grab an Amish family and move them in next door to him and then have them hit him with lawsuit after lawsuit over discriminatory behavior by his using technology that is against their belief.

Religious freedom means you’re free to be religious, not free to tell others how to be religious.

I think the kid has a valid point. How can the service academy insist on attending chapel every Sunday and at the same time allow gays? This is a disconnect and the kid will probably get off scott free as he should. The military can’t have it both ways!

As a Christian when I served in the Navy, if gays were allowed in the service I would have had a definite conflict with that. How you people don’t see that is beyond me.

Call for prayer that he meets the Lord on the road to Damascus. Depression needs to be addressed immediately.

These people who fancy themselves atheists, and maybe they are, will not be satisfied unless and until they FORCE everyone else to embrace their lack of “religion”. No one is hurting him in any way other than his FEELINGS. So, good riddance.
