President Obama is once again in disengagement mode. The first family has scheduled another vacation – for three weeks, beginning Dec. 17. This in and of itself doesn’t bother me. Presidents are entitled to take vacations – even presidents who spend more time on the golf course than they do in the Oval Office. I don’t even begrudge him the disruption he’ll be causing his constituents. According to the Hawaii Reporter, the Obamas’ vacation will hugely restrict the comings and goings of the residents living in the upscale Oahu neighborhood, where they’ll be staying. Streets will be barricaded and, unlike many voting precincts, identification will be in constant demand. In this day and age of terrorism, whether the president believes it exists or not, this, too, is understandable, although I believe he could have chosen a locale where the neighbors’ lives would be less disrupted, especially during the holidays. Have the Obamas ever heard of Camp David? And then there’s the price tag, which while mind-bogglingly pricey, doesn’t even rate my rage meter today. The Obamas’ three-week fling will cost the taxpayers a cool $4 million. Although this bothers me somewhat, I won’t complain. I realize security costs money. It’d be nice if they could keep expenses down to a mere $1 million a week, though, wouldn’t it? No, my real beef is with the timing of the thing.

Now is there any wonder that many decent family men leave the service because of the intolerable working conditions? What they have left are quite a few swinging single types (unfortunately, not always single) who go for the wild life. Hence, the poor judgement and scandals.

I don’t think being the subject of ridicule would ever stop an Obama. Joe Biden is the biggest clown in history and they never once pulled him off the campaign trail. However, I have been wondering why MOoch has totally dropped out of the picture. I think she’s probably mad that she’s not going to be the queen of Hawaii and has to stay in that prison she calls the White House.

I know that someone announced that the raid leader had been killed in Egypt. I thought that was interesting.
I see at least three reasons.
1. He hates Christmas, and wants to be far away so the media won’t report how he shows his contempt for Christmas.
2. He knows how congress is going to go on this budget thing. He doesn’t need to be in Washington.
3. He is far away and can get ready for his second term.
Watch what happens: at the last minute he will magnanimously give up some of his vacation time to negotiate the fiscal cliff. His family will nobly go on to Hawaii and try to enjoy the vacation without dear leader. See, everyone sacrifices.

What you are saying is not exactly true. Bill Clinton did not leave Washington D.C. during the Christmas holidays, except twice. 1 year to go to Hilton Head N.C. and another year he went to Kosovo.
What obama is doing is setting a whole new precedence for presidents. First off his home isn’t even in Hawaii, it is in Chicago. Secondly, none of his family from Hawaii even lives there or is even alive.
George H.W. Bush spent all 4 years at Camp David. President Reagan, spent all 8 years at the White House, and specifically said he did not want to take the staff away from their families. George W. Bush spent all 8 years in Washington as well. I believe Carter did as well. This Hawaii vacation is just another example of how arrogant obama is, and how unquestioning the media is of his behaivor. Personally, I think he does it, to further cement the lie that he was born there.

I agree with you on Obama’s vacationing in Hawaii. What’s even more egregious is the story about the Hawaii Christmas trip being “an Obama family tradition”.
That’s interesting, but I’m not so sure about that tradition existing until they reached the White House. Just sayin’.....
