Wallace implies that the Obama Admin would then need more wars to have that amount to apply to the budget.

Well, we didn't seem to be able to keep it. Thus, how is seceding and trying again going to work out? In a while, the new Republic would be suffering from the exact same problems. Once politicians find they can rob the treasury, they will do so. History will repeat itself. Then, there will be talk of seceding from the new Republic to create a newer Republic.

Yes, we are there. I well remember the years when Americans were inconvenienced by industrial workers’ strikes. As a lover of language I noticed what was said, and then reported about the positions and demands of both sides in the negotiations.

Summary: the workers asked for the moon, knowing that they would advance as far as they could intimidate the ‘suits’ into accepting.

This is exactly what Geithner, Obama, Jarrett and the other Red Diaper Doper babies in office today are doing.

There is NO way that Republicans can ever win the approval of the media and the general public, so they have to face this fact. The suits in long gone industries never had the support of the media and the public - they were the RICH!!!

What happened, though: the entire workforce lost their nice incomes in the quest for ever more.

I see our country in the same position as, for example, the steel industry of the 1980s.

Scary and extremely depressing.

Boner now up with Wallace denying Geithner’s positions talking about RATs taking us “over the cliff”.

I suspect one tactic must be to destroy the Republican party by baiting them to renege on their tax pledges. "Read my lips, no new taxes" ended GHW Bush's political life and so it will be with Republicans who sign on to this idiocy.

On the other hand, I am dumbfounded by Obie's audacity with a request for unlimited debt limits. It's so over-the-top, R's are forced to say no.

So, which game are we playing with our country's well being ?

I am SO sick of politics right now and all the wrangling, whining, backstabbing, never-ending campaigning, crooks running government, etc. that I do not have the stomach to watch any of them on TV these days. I’ve been watching a lot of Christmas movies every evening (Hallmark, etc.). It’s ‘escapism’ ... but necessary for my psyche. Thanks for the thread - at least I can find out what the current version of the latest lies happens to be without having to actually watch them utter the words.

Its a if dnc Dave is Hitler and is demanding that we raise taxes even though it wont help.DNC dave is desperate to get us to admit that ozero is a legitimate potus and he should demand respect.
