I suspect one tactic must be to destroy the Republican party by baiting them to renege on their tax pledges. "Read my lips, no new taxes" ended GHW Bush's political life and so it will be with Republicans who sign on to this idiocy.

On the other hand, I am dumbfounded by Obie's audacity with a request for unlimited debt limits. It's so over-the-top, R's are forced to say no.

So, which game are we playing with our country's well being ?

You answered your own question. The Rs will be the bad guys no matter what results from these so-called “negotiations.”

I PRAY that they will not forget GHWB’s words and how they were used as a cudgel against him forevermore. If they keep his experience in mind it just may give them enough spine to keep saying no to Obama and his friends.
