ObamaCare Fallout: Walmart Ends Insurance For New Hires
Breitbart ^ | 1 Dec 2012 | John Nolte

Posted on 12/01/2012 12:14:56 PM PST by george76

And so the government takeover of our health care system begins:

Walmart, the nation’s largest private employer, plans to begin denying health insurance to newly hired employees who work fewer than 30 hours a week..

...

By making the fine for not providing health care cheaper than providing health care, this was always the plan: to encourage employers to send us to the government.

Remember how Obama's big ObamaCare sell was, "You get to keep the health insurance you have"?

It was all a lie, a hustle, a con, a ruse…

All roads lead to single payer. The idiots voted for Obama because they assume the rich will pay for everything when single payer comes in. But in the end, all of us will pay a high price for socialized medicine.

Socialized medicine is cruel and callous. Socialized medicine has poor recovery rates, low-paid bureaucrat doctors, long lines and filthy hospital rooms. Yet once socialized medicine takes over, it is impossible to get rid of because the mindless masses are afraid of the free market alternative.

I seem to remember there was a donation ($1,000,000 I think) made by a certain Wal-Mart family member to the Obama campaign. That money had to come from somewhere...

Quiet?

Saw a lot of picketing and non-employee union comments on various networks prior to Christmas.

You had no insurance before you started working for WalMart, and you get to keep "no insurance".

Obama wrote the bill...no point blaming a company for following the law. Plenty of Obama supporters are going to find out what working for 22 hours a week is like. Don’t worry Obama will just rewrite the law to read that if you work more than 15 minutes a day the Company has to provide you with “free” healthcare.

Yep, first expense from every pay-check won’t be a car or house when there’s a mandatory Democrat-Government-bureaucracy to fund.

“Workers’ Comp benefits EMPLOYERS, not employees. It saves employers from being sued by workers injured on the job. If you think WC is a “benefit” to the worker you don’t know much about the real world.”

I was forced to use Workers Comp one time years ago. I was a counselor at a college and stepped off a curb on college grounds to go to my car. I guess the heel of my boot turned and broke off because in an instant I was on the ground on my hands and knees and the heel of my boot was off. I stepped onto rocks and it must have been a rock that turned the heel and the force broke it off.

I had little gravel stuck in the palms of my hands and my right ankle was hurting and my knees had little gravel in them. I got in my car to go to an emergency room, but took that boot off as my ankle had started to swell.

Got to the emergency room, using my insurance card and the ankle was sprained, not broken and the gravel was taken out of my hands and knees. My right elbow was jammed due to landing mostly on it and it hurt. Doc said he couldn’t put me on crutches due to the damage of the palms of my hands. I limped home as couldn’t go back to work. Called the college office to tell them what happened and they had a fit. Told me I had to use workman’s comp. because it happened on that campus.

Ended up having to talk to workman’s comp person and the first sentence out of her mouth was, “Do you have a lawyer?” I said no, I don’t need a lawyer, I just fell and have to use you for the emergency bill. That woman wasn’t nice. It was like I was the enemy.

That’s my only experience with Workman’s Comp. I didn’t want to do that, but was forced to use them.

My daughter called crying saying their premiums that are now costing them $17,000 per year are going up. They can't afford it.

Oh boy...

Mom I know Romney voter goes back to work covers the family 12k since hubby is a small businessman.

The Business couple, she looses her Cafeteria plan, he in his small business has gone from 4k to something like 16k in premiums and they don't know what to do...

And it goes on and on.

And all these stupid kids that now have to "buy" it in an exchange? It is not with pre-tax dollars. Double Screwing compared to those that get it through their employer or small business types that take the "line 29" 100% deduction on the 1040....

Our Premiums are stable to slightly up w/ company trying to give more to cover it, but they dropped Blue Cross, no Obama I didn't get to keep my plan.

This whole thing is a massive pile of suckage...

You are right about health care being offered first by business to compete for good employees. It worked fine until the govt. got involved and caused this mess we have now.
I would say that if we went back to pre-govt. involvement the mess could be corrected. But we all know that ain’t happenin.

Workman's comp was developed to reduce the burden on the courts.

As this country (and Western European countries) industrialized the occurrence of serious on the job injury skyrocketed ~ the only relief was to sue, and in the meantime you'd still be injured with nothing being done unless you were otherwise wealthy.

Workman's comp opened the courts back up ~ probably not a good outcome if you think about it ~ but the legal standard became one where the employer paid first. I'd imagine the death rates declined.

ObamaKKKare has no clear cut interest in any particular public problem ~ and eventually it will fail, as did the idea that you could take care of industrial accidents with lawsuits. Just imagine what happens when 320 million people start flooding the federal district courts with legal disputes involving ObamaKKKare ~ I certainly can't ~ there aren't enough courthouses nor federal judges, but this process certain removes billing disputes from your state and local courts to the federal docket. Congress can simply refuse to fund more courts and that'll be the end of ObamaKKKare.

In the meantime I"m making sure I get the best care possible by taking all my problems and questions to my representatives in Congress FIRST!!! They can help me eh! Just keep those cards and letters coming folks.

>>I think you hit the nail on the head with the reference that employer provided health insurance was a gateway to communism. I would much rather be paid my full salary and obtain and pay for my own health insurance.
>>Most employees do not realize that their “benefits” are actually considered by employers part of their compensation package and not “in addition to.” So these are not benefits at all!

Many FReepers are unaware of it too...or they are looking forward to ending their employees’ “benefits” with no increase in hourly pay, which will effectively cut the employees’ compensation considerably with no changes in the paycheck.

I would prefer to receive my entire compensation package in my paycheck and then take vacation or sick leave as unpaid time off or purchase my own health care. They could still offer a group plan, but you would know exactly what it costs.

This is the plan. In this manner, the government can blame business (and its bastard child, the one percent) so people can be led ever-so-carefully into a single-payer socialist system.

God help us.

I just can’t wait until people start getting their health care insurance bills at the end of January.

Not sure about anyone else, but I don't have to wait to end of January. We were already notified our health care insurance premiums went up another $200/mo., the co-pay's INCREASED $500, our IN-NETWORK Co-Pay was reduced to 80% (from 90%) and our OUT OF NETWORK Co-Pay was reduced to 70% from 80%. My max out of pocket for my family went up $500 also.

Premium's UP, Co-Pay's UP, Out of Pocket expenses UP and all before the health care insurance company pays dime one of a claim.

God Damn' I hate Obama and this Government.

I would say that if we went back to pre-govt. involvement the mess could be corrected.

Instead of Obamacare here was are my soultions and they were all right under our noses, we were so close, most of the pieces where in place, aka especially the HSA's..

* Change line 29 on the 1040 so when we buy insurance it is tax deductible to us, not our employer just like small businessmen and women, no more "3rd Party", if you buy insurance ok, but if you don't it is your fault.
* Remove the Anti-Trust for Health Insurance so we can buy over Statelines via mega-website, just like Progressive Car Insurance.
* Allow Natural Groups i.e Credit Unions and Halls of Faith both 501c3's to offer these tax deductible plans through their organizations.
* Allow individuals to gift health care tax free, i.e. a wealth parishoner could buy a family a HSA plan through said Church etc.
* The vehicle perfect for this before Obamacare destroys it all is the HSA, dam me shame in his hubris he will destroy everything...

You can say that again. Obama is a wannabe dictator who has Communist/Muslim sympathies. Only a fool would refuse to see that. There is nothing he has done that surprises me and just look at all the damage he has done in 3 weeks since the election. I am sick. My country is gone. I fear for my family. I despise everyone who refused to do their best to rid our country of this menace.

I know this would not be happening if Romney/Ryan had been elected. We would not be facing this health care crisis right now.

Workman's comp opened the courts back up ~ probably not a good outcome if you think about it I was speechless when the comp. woman asked if I had a lawyer. Who was I going to sue? The college for having a curb, or for having a gravel parking lot? The bootmaker that made the heel on the boot? I simply stepped off the curb and hit the ground, a set of circumstances that just happened. It's called "an accident". I didn't blame anyone - stuff happens.

I suggest one of the taxes the House of Representatives cuts is the Obamacare tax.
