(CNSNews.com) - House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said on Friday that Congress should hand over to President Barack Obama personal, unilateral authority to increase the limit on the U.S. government's debt.

At a Friday press conference, a reporter asked Pelosi if she agreed with a proposal made by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner that Congress give Obama the power to unilaterally increase the debt limit.

"Yes," she said.

When he met with members of Congress on Thursday to discuss a deal to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff that is set to occur at the end of this year, Secretary Geithner suggested that Congress give Obama the personal power as president to lift the legal limit on the federal government's debt.

No one can stop Obama now. No one. He is fast becoming a dictator and we are powerless.

They will do whatever they like. Nobody is going to stop them. We know that now.

America is toast - without a shot fired.

Who would have thought it?

Well - some of us knew it a long time ago.

The topic would have been worth a head shake, and a chuckle prior to Nov. 6th, but today I’m shaking my head, NOT chuckling at all.

These Leftist lunatics with power, and influence with the radical powers that occupy the seats of leadership in both the Senate, and the WH today are dangerous. Very dangerous.

Obama has already demonstrated that via his EOs. To go next level they need to do some preconditioning. They are trying to get some on our side to react. The silence is deafening.

Government spending is the problem we're facing right now. How can unlimited government spending fix the problem of government spending?

I feel like I've entered Alices wonder land, where up is down and down is up.

No wonder everyone laughed at Geithner. If he thinks unlimited spending will fix unlimited spending, the man needs a good psychiatrist.

Heck, why not give him personal authority to suspend the Constitution too, while we’re at it.

We already have. Where were you for the last 4 years?/sarc

"Why don't they simply do it the traditional way and set fire to the Reichstag?"

They could have a Night of the Long Faces!

One of the greatest services here at Free Republic is that we can sound off in a limited way and it helps take the lid off the pressure a bit. I believe President Azzhole is doing exactly what you say,,picking and testing and pestering and badgering and mocking,,trying to get even stronger reactions. The media is scared to death of him so they continue to toe the same line they’ve been licking for 4 years.

O the Horrible is not done. He is just getting started!

Botox has infected what few brain cells that liberalism hasn’t rotted out yet.
There should be a special padded cell for this skank.

OK, Nanzi, no need for any of you if 0bunghole has all the power. We can dissolve the House and Senate and at least not have to fund the salaries and bennies for you and all the other useless eaters in the Capitol building. Turn that into a tourist attraction run by the Smithsonian.

They're very dangerous indeed, and just from what they've already done or tried to do.

It's any ones guess what they'll try next and they've got at least four more years to do it.

For once Nancy has a good idea. Congress raised it every single time it is close to max. Maybe i’m mistaken here. If not, her idea would save a lot of fuss.

“many other”...No, ALL. They first need to be convicted and placed in a hospital/penitentiary for the criminally insane for the rest of their disturbed, useless lives.
