CAIRO Thousands of opponents of Egypt's Islamist president clashed with his supporters in cities across the country Friday, burning several offices of the Muslim Brotherhood, in the most violent and widespread protests since Mohammed Morsi came to power, sparked by his move to grant himself sweeping powers.
The violence, which left 100 people injured, reflected the increasingly dangerous polarization in Egypt over what course it will take nearly two years after the fall of autocrat Hosni Mubarak.
Critics of Morsi accused him of seizing dictatorial powers with his decrees a day earlier that make him immune to judicial oversight and give him authority to take any steps against "threats to the revolution". On Friday, the president spoke before a crowd of his supporters massed in front of his palace and said his edicts were necessary to stop a "minority" that was trying to block the goals of the revolution.
"There are weevils eating away at the nation of Egypt," he said, pointing to old regime loyalists he accused of using money to fuel instability and to members of the judiciary who work under the "umbrella" of the courts to "harm the country."
Clashes between his opponents and members of Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood erupted in several cities. In the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, anti-Morsi crowds attacked Brotherhood backers coming out of a mosque, raining stones and firecrackers on them. The Brothers held up prayer rugs to protect themselves and the two sides pelted each other with stones and chunks of marble, leaving at least 15 injured. The protesters then stormed a nearby Brotherhood office.

Maybe now some people will understand why Egypt would NOT allow the Muslim Brotherhood to hold ANY political office from 1925 to 2012.
They knew how dangerous the MB was....Obama has played into their hands -—perfectly for them.
IIRC, the Salafist are battling for control against the MB, we might want to wait and find out more about who these protesters are.
Just sayin...
......Thousands of opponents of America’s Islamist president clashed with his supporters in cities across the country Friday, burning several offices of the Muslim Brotherhood, in the most violent and widespread protests since Barrack Obama came to power, sparked by his move to grant himself sweeping executive powers and outlaw religion except Islam.
The violence, which left 100,000 dead, reflected the increasingly dangerous polarization in America over what course it will take nearly four years after the imposter Obama, backed by MSM,unconstitutionally became President.
Critics of Obama accused him of seizing dictatorial powers with his executive orders a day earlier that make him immune to judicial oversight and give him authority to take any steps against “threats to HIS, and his non producers, revolution”.
There, fixed it!
Did it? Or is this the game plan she laid out for Morsi on her visit two days ago?
Bump! Or is that just a bump in the road...? You Sir are more correct than we should ever have to know.
“And Egypt, like us, has an associate professor as a leader now.”
An affirmative action “associate professor”.
Bread and circuses.
” - - - reflected the increasingly dangerous polarization - - - “
Obviously this polarization was caused by a second video on the Internet. Well, based on the best intelligence available, of course.
And there is the reason we don't want a "democracy" - 49.9% makes you a "minority" and the 50.1% can decide to wipe you out because you hinder their plans...
how can the salafist be battling with the Moslem Brotherhood? the salafist are he same as the Waahbi - fundamentalist Muslims whom want to go back to the glory days of Islam.
the conflict mainly is the uneducated the masses (shitite) do not like to ruled by the educated elite (Waahbi, Salafists) Sunni. The problem in the Middle East Arabi Countries is the elite - academics are the ones whom are in control and want the world on fire. The battle in the Mideast is that Shittite want theri 12th Imam and the Sunni do not believe in the 12th Imam.
Arab countries will fight for power - who is behind the uprising in Egypt - Iran. Just like Iran is behind Syria, Hamas and Turkey. Shittite Muslims are the trouble.
Popcorn. Munch crunch. May both sides lose after unending struggle.
Odumbo was never a professor - he was just a teacher of some classes that the University of Chicago Law School wished to have a diverse viewpoint. Keep in mind he was never offered a professorship or associate professorship.
The coursework that Odumbo taught was not truly constitutional law. it was about voters rights and how to cause for trouble in elections. Look how the Secretary of Staes in many states were elected, check their backgrounds and you will find these same people were participants in the voting rights to be blocked through courts so fraud could be committed.
I remember reading back when this debacle was still playing out that the Salafist had a major presence in Egypt and were indeed battling the MB for power.
Heck, remember when this first started then it came out Unions and Code pink were over there stirring the pot?:

I dunno, you may be right, I just want to wait a little longer and see what comes out.
President (cough, spit) 0bama is following this closely to see if Morsi can get away with his attempted power grab.
Salafists - ultraconservatives who won some seats in Egypts parliament
Muslim Brotherhood came from Saudi Arabia - moderates.
Revolution the liberals joined with Muslim Brotherhood.
The oddity is the Muslim Brotherhood and the liberals want the government to be the sole authority. Morsi wants himself to be the arbitratary of laws - Totalarianism (Secularists)
Salafists (waahbaists also came from Saudi Arabia - but they are ultraconservative - the Mosque, Muslim Clerics are at the realm of authority - spiritual authority is granted by the Muslim Clerics whom rule over the people. One word can sum this Theocracy or better known as a Muslim Caliphate
Iran ‘s involvement Secularist Caliphate (government rule which the muslim clerics secondary to governemnt.
Morsi wants this power
the problem is that the liberals are angry that their freedoms will be taken away with the realm that Morsi has complete control.
Note Morsi wants an autogolpe ( a coupe whereby the Constitution, Supreme Court and parliament are ineffective.
relation to Odumbo in the USA - Odumbo will work to utilize the AutoGolpe concept that achieved coupes in Russia, (Boris Yeltsin - september 21, 1993 dissolved Parliament, Supreme Court and called for early elections, Yeltsin was relected in 1996 new parliament Federal assembly and a State Duma) and latin America - see Peru Alberto Fujimori april5, 1992 suspended the constitution, fored the top judges and emergenmcy rule declared Special Fujimori was later convicted of wrongdoing sentenced to prison), Guatemela Jorge Serrano on May 25, 1993, el Presidente Serrano dissolved Congress, suspended the Constitution declared emeergency elections , but he was removed in one week and fled into exile)
there is a paper “Presidential Coups D”tat and regime Change in Latin America and Soviet Successor State: lessons for Democratic Theory Maxwell Cameron Working Paper #249 - February 1998.
Note this is based on democratic Theory - Oddly enough Odumbo is utilize the democratic theory to destroy the Us. Morsi and all the others are striving to do the same thing in the Mid East.
Iran is supporting this, but so also is Russia.
just a thought that I have been formulatring for years.
Autogolpe defined “as a temporary suspension of constitutional guarantees and closure of Congress by the Executive, which rules by decree and uses referda and new legislative elections to ratify a regime with broader executive powers Cameron 1994. Look up Deliberative Democracy, (1996 - Academia) Liberal Democracy see Linz 1975 - liberal political rights and electoral democracy -
see Robert Pohl’s polyarchy (1971)
Just for information for others to read and think about what is happening in the Middle East - and what may happen in the USA - Odumbo’s theory being practiced and perfected with killing opposition.
What? “No more Obama, Obama we are all Osama’s,” chants? Lessee female mutilation, sharia law and untold purges of muslims not muslim enough? What in tarnation could go wrong in the world of the scarab worshipers?
Morsi et al are being tested. The message is “moderate”
If there is no moderation there will be a coup de ‘etat
Radicalization will not be tolerated. Moderate or die...... that is the message from the military/money coalition
The message will reverbarate across the region
