Twinkie Party: The Loss of 18,000 Hostess Jobs Is All a Big Joke to ABC News
NewsBusters ^

The cast of Good Morning America on Friday treated the bankruptcy of Hostess and the loss of 18,500 jobs as a hilarious joke. Josh Elliott, George Stephanopoulos and others guffawed as they handed out Twinkies and ate them on set.

Twenty years ago, there was a riot in my county (white cop shot a black kid and killed him) and the blacks rioted, breaking windows, destroying property, Al Sharpton got involved. The only store they left alone was Popeye’s.

They might need some facilities, depending on who buys it, of course. Other companies will simply use their existing facilities and workers.

It could be that whoever owns it might part out the work to regional companies. Sort of the way Dr. Pepper is produced and distributed by Coke and Pepsi in different states (except Texas of course), even though its actually an independent company. (So is Big Red and it produces NONE of its own product).

I think that Little Debbie and BIMBO are two of the companies that might be interested in the trademarks and recipes.

Very special people in that video.

May it come back to bite them on their asses.

I'm so sorry for the innocent workers that lost their jobs even though they weren't part of the union strike.

“Twinkie has been around my entire life, I remember eating them when I was in first grade...”

I’m 75 and never heard of a Twinkie until the Harvey Milk murder and still have never seen or eaten one.

The company that buys up the Hostess brands already have employees and factories. It’s unlikely they’ll need the Hostess union workers or the Hostess owned plants.

Yep. Will anyone be buying the buildings and worn out machinery?

The same sort of thing happened to the sugar plant in Sugarland TX, a town that was named for it. Was it Imperial? I don’t recall.

That’s easy to believe. The unions have always been geared towards keeping the idiots in a job. I really don’t think it used to be that way, many years ago. But the unions time is over. If everyone employed within a company did their jobs, didn’t goof off, steal from the company, didn’t call in sick to go out on a pretty day, didn’t use excuses like “my alarm didn’t go off” imho there would never be a need for unions. They think it’s ok be a pain at work because the ownners are “fat cats” anyway and can afford it. Unfortunately, when lots of employees feel the same way, it can shut a business down.

the media is our enemy, they are the biggest threat to this country, the way they have ignored the issues, ignored this corrupt election, ignored Libya, fast and furious etc make them the biggest threat to this country.

I was clicking around this morning to see if anyone was mentioing the massive rigged election or the General, Libya attack

You think Libya was not on this planet if you went to MSNBC, CNN did a little but ignored the bigger issue and certainly ignored the timeline as did Crowley in the debates, FOX with Catherine should get the award for best investigative reporter for the decade, she has been right on top of this issue from day one

I can proudly say I’ve never seen this show “GMA” — now I have more reason to never watch it — or ABC for that matter.

Jerks

“I’m 75 and never heard of a Twinkie until the Harvey Milk murder and still have never seen or eaten one.”

You’ve never been in a gas station, drug store, walmart or any grocery store and seen twinkies? How about ding dongs or the chocolate cupcakes with the white swirl on top?

The Teamsters did agree to take a pay cut in order to keep their jobs. My son took a $600 per month cut in pay just to keep his job of 17 years (delivery route driver).

The drivers are furious with the...and I quote, “liberal scumbag SOB’s”. He said they (bakers) were strong 0bama supporters while the drivers were Conservatives.

That is probably because the drivers get out and can see how the economy really is, while the bakers just get the union and msm propaganda.

Well, I’ll have to admit you’ve got me on that one. I have absolutely no idea what a “linecatcher” is. But now that you bring it up the title does make sense.

I’m envisioning someone standing at the end of the belt catching the Twinkies before they hit the floor...lol.

I remember listening to someone in the fiancial community on the radio or TV recently talking about the ridiculous cost of the average “line” employee at Hostess, and how that was driving the company’s bankruptcy and the financial problems that followed. I hoped to find more. But thanks again.
