Israel strikes 320 targets in the Strip since launching Operation Pillar of Defense with assassination of Hamas military chief; 16 Palestinians killed; Gazans fire over 300 rockets into South, killing 3.
Palestinians have fired over 300 rockets from Gaza into the South since the IDF launched its operation. Two rockets triggered an air raid siren in Tel Aviv, marking the first time that a real siren was sounded in Tel Aviv since the Gulf War in the early 1990s.
According to Bethlehem-based Ma'an news agency, 16 Palestinians have been killed since the start of the operation. At least two children, including an 11-month-old baby were among the casualties.
The IDF shifted infantry brigades and tank columns to the Gaza border, and announced the call-up of 30,000 reservists, as it made preparations for a possible ground incursion into the Gaza Strip.
The aim of the attacks is to disrupt the ability of the terrorist organizations to fire rockets, the IDF said. Terrorist cells involved in firing rockets have also been hit.
The targets were chosen after intelligence reports on their locations were gathered over recent months.
The IDF is landing painful blows against Hamas and against terrorist infrastructure, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said. He said the rocket fire on greater Tel Aviv was an escalation, and the other side will have to pay a price for this

Take out the Jihadi Imams. They seem to be the nexus.
If the Israelis only killed 16 “Palestinians” either they are lousy shots, or are exercising extreme restraint in hitting civilian areas despite the fact that Hamas is firing rockets from them. Aaron Klein has photos on his site.
Guess the UN, Amnesty International, the United Methodist Church, Hanoi supporter Rev. Jim Wallis, and J Street will condemn Israel for defending itself in general. Most of them do it like clockwork, or knee-jerkwork.
Just another day in Insanityville.
George Orwell, you were right!
Hamas said that the killing of their leader by Israel would “unleash hell” . Yeah, hell on them, good luck w/that guys.
I hope they are just getting started
There’s a limit to what you can do by air. And a ground invasion will be very messy.
Some of those ‘deaths’ were fake. The bastiches played dead for the cameras then got up and walked away...and one ‘baby’ was an empty blanket wrapped up and fastened with a belt.
Take out their propoganda/enemamedia!
Obama is reelected and the rockets are falling on Tel Aviv.
The Israel/Iran War is on - what will Egypt do? Hamas is the Palestinian chapter of the Muslim Brotherhood, but has signed up to obey Iranian orders in this war. Will Egypt let them get chewed up without stepping in? Egypt desperately needs Gulf Oil sheiks to finance them, but they hate those heretic Shia in Iran. Can they all agree to hate Jews more? Even for a little while? These are the uncertainties, as the Middle East burns...
So far though, The Israeli Defense Forces seem to be landing some great combinations - just like the good old days.
A boatload of Turks are massing toward Syria, and Iran is stepping up enrichment to produce enough for a warhead every couple of months.
But don’t worry - we’ve got Obama for decisive leadership. </sarcasm>
Burn their Mosques! What will they do that they haven't been doing.
Unleashing Hell ?? EXCELLENT idea. Hit the area for 1 mile around each launch site with napalm. Pretty soon, Hamas will run out of area willing to let them launch rockets.
Or they’ll run out of Palestinians. Win-win either way. . .
Recent news is Israel will hold fire while Egyptian PM visits. Here is there now in Gaza.
It’s the Arab Spring!
Carpet Bomb gaza...
Some rockets up their bums whilst they are thrusting them Heavenward would be a start..
