Nassau and Suffolk counties announced Thursday that they are imposing "odd-even" gasoline rationing to ease congestion and frustration at filling stations.

The counties will join with New York City to impose the new system beginning at 5 a.m. Friday, in the wake of a shortage that began after superstorm Sandy hit the region.

Under the system, drivers with license plates ending in an even number will be able to purchase fuel only on even-numbered days and drivers with license plate numbers that end in an odd number will be able to purchase fuel only on odd-numbered days. License plates such as vanity plates that do not display numbers will be considered odd-numbered plates. …

Except this bozo isn't competent as Carter was. Carter was able to bring us to gas rationing in a single term.

The Carter-zero comparison game ended last Tuesday.

zero is becoming more like an FDR, without the war (yet).

FDR was polarizing, from what I read. The old I don't know which side of the stamp to spit on joke.

from the horses mouth:

Per a customer of mine in LI. Many gas stations still do not have electricity. Also, many of the tanks at gas stations were flooded with sea water. Many of the pumps need to be replaced because of sea water corrosion. There is plenty of fuel in the storage terminals. The problem is there are only 25-50% of the stations open for business as usual. Therefore, the long lines at the places that are open.

This will be harder to do in NY. In NJ all stations are full serve; that is not the case in NY.

They can hire a whole crew of gas station sheriffs to enforce it. Rent out some Black Panthers maybe? NY has pretty much unlimited money, right?

Sure, so long as it is printed by DC, they have unlimited money.

Yeah it is scary. Illinois has already come out and asked for federal guarantees of stunningly underfunded state pensions, and with Baraq winning, I’m sure NY and Cali will be right behind.

FDR was polarizing, from what I read.

My grandfather always referred to him as "that idiot roosevelt".

At least when I was present ... Don't know what word he used in place of "idiot" when kids weren't around.

It would be nice to have the odd number and get privileges two days in a row between December/January and January/February. Maybe they’re hoping to solve the problem before February.

If they took off the damn "anti gouging" price controls, the situation would be fixed within hours. Station owners would put up ads on Craigslist asking for people with high-capacity generators to come over, the stations with undamaged pumps but no power would re-open, fuel trucks would drive over from PA or upstate NY if that's what it took. Gas might go to $6/gal for a while, but then decline.

When does the guy who walks to the gas station with an empty container get to fill up?

With respect, their survival was on the backs of small business owners like my grandfather, whose taxes supported "that idiot roosevelt's" enormous array of make-work projects.

FDR's great depression, like 0bama's ongoing and deepening recession, was caused by and exacerbated by deliberate government policy of economic meddling and social engineering.

You're welcome.

It doesn’t apply to gas containers. You can get on the gas container line any day.

My disco-hazy recollection of the Cah-tuh days is that everyone could purchase on the 31st.

“...And your dislike for people living on “Lawn Guyland” is ... ?”
Nothing personal to any single individual, especially a conservative. Corporately, however, it’s an anti-gun, anti-God, anti-American, energy-hating, liberal, odongo-loving, socialist-taxing, politically-corrupt bluest of the blue states. Do I need to go on??
IF you’re conservative and against that evil, Great! But if you live in that socialist mess, maybe you should consider GTFO while you still can and leave it to the lib zombies to tax, suffer and feast on each other. Maybe consider moving your love for America, your abilities and talent to somewhere where it will be honored, respected and appreciated....just a thought.

In Obama-Land we will all be equal, except for the Democrat Party Politburo and their pals.

The rest of us will be equally destitute and equally stomped on by government.

Nothing personal, especially to conservatives there. See Post #8 and #31. BTW, they’re gonna hurt a lot more too...wait till the financial collapse hits and store shelves become bare. It’s coming.

Yep. That’s why they’re coming for our guns as fast as they can get it done. In some areas of the country though, they’re in for a verrrrrrrrrrryyyy rude awakening.
