The 2009 Carbon Tax Bill is a House passed piece of legislation. It was passed in 2009.

I'm no expert, but it's my understanding from way back in my high school civics days that a bill that hasn't been passed by both houses of congress dies at the end of that congressional term and would have to be started from scratch. So therefore, any carbon bill passed by the house in 2009 would have died after when that congress ended and the next congress took over in 2011.

It is my belief that carbon trading is the reason O was pushed into the White House. It is a trillion dollar scam of the millenium. Between carbon tax, and carbon permits, and carbon credits, you have a means of total control and a fire-hose stream of money.

With that much power and that much money on the line, they will keep coming back until they get it. Any pretext is good enough.

Guess I can buy some land with trees and get paid not to cut them down.

There’s another name for it: theft.

Obama can’t “levy” squat. Taxes have to come from Congress.

They’ll just pass a law saying the House vote is only a guideline and not mandatory to pass a new law. It will got to the Supreme Court and they’ll agree.

The trees were already being planted to replenish stocks that were cut down for wood. They were also sold for their carbon offset value. If they were sold multiple times it would be no surprise.

The whole program only makes sense in lala land.

Ask the Aussis how they like their carbon tax which will cost Australians $20 billion to reduce CO2 from 1 molecule in 5.6 million molecules of air to 1 molecule in 6 million molecules of air. Check out the Galileo Movement website .

You cannot raise taxes in an economic downturn and expect increased revenue. Increased revenue can only occur when the economy is growing or flat. Extra tax burdens such as these can only drive up expenses for businesses and individuals. Those extra expenses decrease profits and tax liability. And in the economy we find ourselves in, increased costs will cause some businesses to close completely.

He will cap every fireplace chimney in America, what will Santa Claus do then?

Haven't you seen the Red Cap, White Beard and hearty "Ho Ho Ho" that Obuma has been sporting lately?

He don't need no stinkin' chimneys. /s

A “carbon tax” is a declaration of war on rural America (ditto for raising the motor fuels excise tax).

It's really amazing at how short the memory of the "dumb masses" is. Obama said, and I quote, that "energy prices will necessarily skyrocket." Amazing how the ministry of propaganda never repeats that quote. If Obama can somehow get a "carbon tax" enacted, combined with the shutdown of dozens of coal fired power plants, I really wouldn't be surprised if electricity rates double before the end of 2014, and I'm really hoping to see "rolling power outages" in California, due to higher consumption but reduced generating capacity. Maybe Obama will save them. Actually, the consumption may go down, as companies and businesses in CA move out of state or just go out of business and shut down.

Can the Senate pass a bill from a previous House?

A courageous House speaker would pass spending bills one by one and dare the Senate to kill them.

A courageous house speaker would state that there will be no more continuing resolutions, and no additional money will go to ANY government program (including the military) until the senate finally obeys the law after nearly 4 years, and passes a budget.

Tell Harry Reid to go talk to Dave Ramsey! And afterwards, to go pound sand!

but people don’t like their gas prices or commuting tickets toyed with.

And every good would be more expensive!

Libs wouldn’t mind that at all.

In looking at the previous procedural trickery, such as the seemingly unconstitutional manner in which ObamaCare was passed, I’d say that the Senate can do pretty much whatever the majority (keeping in mind that Reid is going to try to end the filibuster) wants. And the Supreme Court has a pretty solid history of staying out of things like this ...
