A suggestion ......

There are truly people in need. Pick some way to help them BUT make it local. Make it face-to-face. Don’t donate to the big operations. I read an article once that it is really “easy” to get that welfare check in the mail ... not so easy to accept a bag of groceries from a real human being who has taken their money to buy you food ... folks who get their aid face-to-face tend to get off the aid much faster.

One of my strongest and best childhood memories happened at Thanksgiving, when I was fairly small - I think my youngest brother was still a baby so I was maybe 6 or 7. Someone called the church to ask for help for an elderly couple they knew about. Since it was not a week day, no one was in the office and my dad heard the phone ring and picked it up. These old folks had no food and little heat (if any). The person calling wanted to know if anyone at the church could help. Dad said he would pass the info on. He got to thinking about it .... and after the service, we went grocery shopping, then drove to a not-so-good part of town. I still remember walking up the steps with him as he carried the two grocery bags and the look on the faces of those old people when a true gift, a miracle for them, appeared at their door.

Don’t give up - the Lefties win if you do. Pick carefully who you help (you can always donate time instead of money) and I think you will be ‘rewarded’ in many ways. Matthew 25:45 “He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

I agree with the part of not patronizing 0bama friendly businesses.

No GM, GE, Chrysler, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Comcast, UBS, and those are what I can think of right now.

I have 10 years left on a mortgage and the youngest in college. Not ready to quit work, but I would love to, because I am bone tired and in pretty rotten health for 54 yrs old.

I am also tired of the stress of working 50-60 hour weeks, month after month, year after year.

Can Obama confiscate our 401-Ks? If so, there is no point in working.

I’m with you but just organized national charities. The give me class have become so accustomed to handouts that they take them for granted.

I had the very great misfortune of being at a toys for tots distribution once. It was disgusting watching those women grab and pull toys and stuff them in their cars. Can’t be bothered to actually say thank you or even acknowledge the work involved.

Same with the local soup kitchen. Used to be thank you and God bless, now it is what’s for lunch today.

I have cancelled it all today. No more United Way or Outreach. Even toys for tots is out. I’ll play secret Santa to some kid on my daughters soccer instead.

I concur except there is no Conservative party the GOP abandoned us years ago. I am a conservative independent voter. I decline to provide assistance to NJ and NY. They are Obama’s problem not mine. I will be involved in a very large food drive. Since I manage it the food will be recycled into our military community and not to NJ or NY. People want a nanny state let them have it. I will care for my family and myself and the rest may beg from Obama for all I care.

My family and I are going Galt. No “presents” for Christmas. We will enjoy family and church and Jesus, the real reason for the season. They can get along without my purchases. I will not ensure an uptick in this regime’s 4th quarter.

They can go off a cliff, I don’t care.

Don't you watch the news?

The affluent withdrawing all charitable contributions will have a significant impact on 0bama's core constituents. I get solicited weekly from them for money, clothes, food, etc. So far, between the continued giving and 0bama's handouts of OUR money, they haven't felt any pain, while at the same time we've been suffering through the 0bama Depression. It's time they did.

OK. Let’s look at Allen West. Last I saw, he was in trouble. Why? Democrats want affirmative action voting, don’t they? Isn’t that why Obama won? But it doesn’t work for West? We have an inconsistency here. Democrats don’t support every black, then? Well, that affirmative action voting truth isn’t a truth then. I believe I disproved the “Obama was just too good of a candidate” truth earlier. That moves two out of the way.

Donate your time and point out to the recipents of your effort: “Not that I expect to get credit for this, but I am a Conservative.” Write on your checks, “This donation was mad by a Conservative.”

I say we all just quit work.

The thought is tempting. Would be interesting to see the result. But work isn't just work. We don't work for work's sake, or even just to make a living. It is a God-given means whereby we serve our neighbor. We serve in performing the specific task, painful as it is, and then, having received some financial reward, we serve again by spending that reward - some to take care of our own needs, but also to take care of family and others who work in vocations that serve us, too.

As for giving up on charity, this is a time when it is needed more than ever, particularly when it comes to Christian believers. They are not under any obligation by the State, per se, to provide for those who will not work (in fact they are enjoined specifically NOT to provide for such), but they are enjoined to provide for those who for reasons beyond their control are unable to work, especially those of the household of Faith. Recent political events make Christian Faith and life all the more pertinent.

Would miss your presence as a neighbor, but understand completely if you really want to bail. As for me, not really. It's not as if I expected my job to somehow land me on a magic carpet to sipping drinks in the Bahamas. Nope. I'll keep working and die in the saddle if I must. No biggie.

"Can Obama confiscate our 401-Ks? If so, there is no point in working."

He can do any, and everything he wants for 4 years. How can he be stopped? I'm considering taking all my 401K money now while I can, and buying some gold with part of it, and hiding the rest in various places in case the SHTF.

I have also decided to become as anti-union as possible. Those guys vote against their country year after year. My next car will be constructed with as few union parts as possible. The made in America tag should really say made in America by socialists...

Then I stand corrected on missing your point.

The GOP Ruling Class is today lecturing Conservatives that we are too rigid and ‘purist’ in our principles, and we need to ‘soften’ them in order to “win” “immigrants” and “Minorities” to our side.

That’s crap - and that is what I thought you were advocating by your earlier statement.

I agree, we need to insist, teach and preach Conservatism (and the Gospel) to those you say we ‘need’ to reach out to. The problem is, too many of us are ashamed of our faith and our principles and end up agreeing with those who hate us that we are ‘intolerant’ because we do not bow to Liberal Socialism.

People are drawn to passion, unwavering conviction and insistence on a belief. It’s why Islam is filling the vacuum lukewarm Christianity has left behind. What I am hearing from those advocating ‘reaching out’ is NOT teaching them our principles - but rather surrendering ours so as to be more ‘palatable’ to those who ‘are not comfortable with us’.

If a culture does not insist on adhering to it’s cultural identities - then it will be assimilated by the strongest agenda out there. America no longer believes in an American culture - and if Conservatives will not stand up to insist on it - then we lose the nation regardless of what group the ruling class demands we pander to.

It’s the same argument the church has about eschewing sin in today’s culture. They are not willing to call it sin, or denounce sin because to do so is called intolerance and judgmentally or puritanism. So to be seen as a ‘good Christian’ - we have bought the Satanic lie that we need to embrace sin, declassify sin as sin and call it a ‘choice’ - and remove the stigma of labels of good and evil by compromising with sin and evil - which is declared to be good.

Same deal with Conservatism right now. Compromise, soften, relent, embrace.

That is the way of death.

I have always made a special effort to arrange my affairs so as to minimize the harm that liberals in governent can do to me. I pay taxes, but I make an effort to minimize them by controlling the form, manner and timing of converting wealth to income. I look for ways to avoid regulations that might hinder me. I have planned the transmission of wealth to the next generation so that large death taxes can be minimized. There are things you can do in all areas of your life to avoid being victimized by government.

As I have posted in the past, if you believed that you needed someone like Mitt Romney to "protect" you, then you have become too dependent on government. Organize your life so as to reduce that dependency. Government and politicians are not your friends.

“It was abortion.” This is a tough one. I realllllllly hate abortion, but we must be truthful. The polls show that the majority of Americans dislike abortion. But do they, really? It’s very easy to tell someone on the phone that you are against killing babies. Quite another thing to think about your 16 year old daughter coming up pregnant and you seeing your dreams for your little princess going away as her belly expands. And let’s face it, eugenics and population control play a big part in this. I used to be a Democrat. They are petrified, and I do mean petrified, that there are going to be too many black, brown and yellow people. They think these people will degrade their quality of life and take resources from their kids and grand kids. They trot out their female and black and brown and yellow Kapos to try to appear to be objective and maintain voting blocs. In the privacy of the voting booth, do many people who say they are against abortion actually vote for those who support it? This pro-life explanation may just be camouflage to cover the Democrat racism. But, it could be true. How do we defeat it? We drive out the fear. Your little princess can have her baby adopted. Good grief. If there’s any stigma left about being a single teen mother, I sure haven’t seen it. This is a line in the sand issue for me. We have to drive out this irrational fear that cause people to vote Democrat. Maybe commercials of people playing with their adopted children. I’m pretty sure that most people abhor killing babies, but they go into the polling booth and they are afraid.

Like others said on this thread: Starve the beast.

I'll just insulate myself even more and tune out the noise.

The time that I would have taken to help others; I'll spend it on me and my family and friends. Need help? Ask Obama or Christie for a handout.

And watching the beast shrink will be a new hobby.

In theory you are absolutely correct. However real life experience is that it doesn’t work.

4 years ago I set out to do random acts of goodness, in inner cities. It grew into different ministries. I had the idea that it could really help transform lives- AND - help inform the voter about the truth.

I have seen a number of things. 1) The “black” community loves to hear the truth, and they are willing to talk and even find out about conservationism.

That is until 2) the black Democratic party machine shows up to get those people back on their knees.

If anyone every wants to get serious about the obamaphone voters, the democratic machine has to be taken apart, to allow people the chance to think for themselves.

Other minorities- I don’t know what to do with them. White women? They are Democrats because they are getting back at their daddies.
