America's coming civil war -- makers vs. takers
Fox News ^ | Published July 12, 2012 | Arthur Herman

“A house divided against itself cannot stand.”

Abe Lincoln used those words in 1858 to describe a country that was careening toward civil war. Now we’re a house divided again and another civil war is coming, with the 2012 election as its Gettysburg.

Call it America’s coming civil war between the Makers and the Takers.

On one side are those who create wealth, America’s private sector–the very ones targeted by President Obama’s tax hikes announced Monday.

On the other are the public employee unions; left-leaning intelligentsia who see the growth of government as index of progress; and the millions of Americans now dependent on government through a growing network of government transfer payments, from Medicaid and Social Security to college loans and corporate bailouts and handouts (think GM and Solyndra).

Over the past century America’s private sector has been the source of productivity, innovation, creativity, and growth–and gave us the iPhone and iPad. The public sector has been the engine of entitlement, stagnation, and decline -- and gave us Detroit and the South Bronx.

The private sector built the strongest economy in the world. It armed the free world in World War Two, and then in the three decades after the war turned America into the most prosperous society history had ever seen. It revived America in the Reagan and Clinton years, and thanks to the Bush tax cuts brought this country back from economic collapse after 9/11.

In those same years a growing public sector, by contrast, turned Europe into a cesspool of debt, stalled economies, and chronic social dysfunction that’s set the streets of Athens -- and perhaps other European capitals--on fire.

That’s where we’re headed, too, more rapidly than we like to think.

Just as long as those states that decide to secede remember that there are many conservatives stuck in progressive states that would gladly move and pledge allegiance to a conservative confederacy.

Not everyone that lives in Massachusetts is a loony tune liberal, and not every Texan is to the right of Barry Goldwater.

Otherwise, I do not see another avenue to pursue.

Obama is going to go full radical in the next four years, proving his Cloward/Piven bona fides.

I have been predicting this today, and it would not surprise me if this happens.

Why? Because YOU say so? idiot.

No, not because I say so but because I have been hearing this bullshit for that last 20 years and guess what...no Civil War II.

And I know what you are going to say before you even say it. You were going to tell me that things weren't that bad before. Right? See I knew it before you even did.

One way to win this whole thing would be for the workers to all quit and starve the governments ass to death for lack of tax money. Sure it would be tough but most of us could survive. I mean if we all refuse to work what can they do? Nothing. If we don’t work the tax well runs dry overnight..” The beggars would get nothing from their slavemasters because they would have nothing to give. If everyone would just go Galt....

Wrong. What I was going to say is, “Pussy! You just stick that itty-bitty head of yours in the sand and keep thinking you’ve got it all figured out, we’ll handle this.”

You forget the coming financial collapse....by the time Obama is done in 2016, we will be $20-25 TRILLION in debt, not including upwards of $100 TRILLION in obligations to Social Security and Medicare. Not enough money on the planet to cover that hole...

When the money runs out and the freeloaders stop receiving their freebies, the shooting will begin. One only need to look at the Sandy aftermath and the chaos there. Extrapolate that across the country and hopefully you get a good glimpse of what IS COMING.

The USA simply cannot survive the dependency class in its’ current form. The math don’t lie.

I predict that at some point over the next 4 years the internet will come under Obama’s strict control. He will throttle access to conservative sites like Freerepublic while leaving liberal sites untouched. I mean he is free now and he wants revenge, said so himself. If things get tight I would suggest having several means of communication. Conservatives are going to be stomped on for the next 4 years. Get ready.

But remember, the rural areas is what keeps the more urban areas going, food and energy-wise. Even the cool folks cannot deny it.

True and Illinois is conservative outside of Chi-town, Eastern Wash is also for the moment californication is starting to intrude there by those who can’t afford Seattle.

Outside the big cities most blue states have substantial conservative communities.

This is interesting. Because of cultural changes and government changes on don’t ask don’t tell, I believe the kind of people making up our military will be very different in the future than has traditionally existed in our nation’s long ago and more recent past. In other words, it will in the future be made up of people who would love nothing more than advance with violence on our own people, especially white Christian conservatives. If our military budget is slashed, perhaps for this reason alone, it might have some benefit.

Prior to the Civil War the North and South for the most part were contiguous in their areas of influence. There was wide spread support for the goals of the repsective antoganists.

Modern day America is balkanized into incoherent areas of influence. There isn’t even widespread support for closing the border let alone defending real American values in a civil war.

I am John Galt. My family and I were talking today and no Christmas presents this year. I am starving the beast. The minimum purchases to survive. I will not make this last quarter better for this communist in the WH, on the back of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his season. They can all jump off a cliff but I will not support this regime.

A civil war is both stupid and unnecessary.

The areas of political power/influence are clearly defined even if the populations are balkanized.

Oh, please. Stop with the civil war nonsense. Do you really expect people to support violence. Great way to attract new people to our party.
