This is a fairly conservative area, but I remember this same online 2008 poll right before the election only had McCain up by a point or two...big difference now!

I was born and raised in Lynchburg, and now live ten minutes east. This area is CARPETED with Romney/Ryan signs. You truly cannot turn your head without seeing one.

The only Obama sign around here, other than a few in the inner city/black area, inexplicably belongs to an old lady up the road who runs a little diner. I can’t begin to understand why a business owner would support that commerce-destroying SOB.

You might format this a little better.
When I first read this, it looked like Zero had the 67%.

I almost choked to death on my breakfast bagel when I saw it.

Good Lord I hope so...if Romney were in trouble in Lynchburg, there’d be a lot of “wailing and gnashing of teeth” on Tuesday! :)

Come on, ♥ Virginia ♥ !!!!

A little patriotic inspiration from Patrick Henry, one of Virginia's own:

“It is natural for man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts... For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth, to know the worst, and to provide for it.”

“Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains. A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience, is incompatible with freedom. No free government, or the blessings of liberty, can be preserved to any people but by a firm adherence to justice, moderation, temperance, frugality, and virtue; and by a frequent recurrence to fundamental principles.”

“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government - lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.”

“The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them.”

“It can not be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians, not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ!”

Rove —er, Rover , FR’s least favorite cur— was on Hannity last night; he was worried about the snow down that way suppressing pro-coal Dems from coming out. I think if i were them I’d trudge through waist high drifts.

Any business that displays an Obama Biden sign is never, ever going to get any of my business again. Around here Obama Biden signs are as scarce as Sasquatches this time around. Romney Ryan signs are plentiful. In the town near us that was a sea of Obama signs in 2008 there is not a single one this election.

Yes, this area will favor Romney heavily. The key to Virginia will be the Richmond and Norfolk suburbs as well as minimizing Obama’s margin in the DC suburbs so that areas like Lynchburg can cancel that margin out.

As returns come in look for the following:
1. Romney needs to carry the City of Virginia Beach and Henrico County (Richmond suburb). These used to be areas where Republicans could run up large numbers, but since 2006 have been trending Democrat.
2. Keep Obama under 60% in Newport News.
3. Battle Loudon and Prince William as close to even as possible.
4. Run up a large Romney margin in the city of Chesapeake and Chesterfield County (Richmond suburb).

That’s so encouraging to hear.

I agree with you completely about not patronizing Obama supporters. Apparently, so do lots of people in my area. The parking lot of the little diner I mentioned is almost always empty. Oh, well. She made her choice, and it was an extremely unwise one.

Just yesterday, I flew over the area he was talking about - plenty of snow on top of the ridges but very little down in the hollows where the towns are - roads were clear
